Midtown Game Night

We usually meet in the back room. If you can't find us, ask the barista where the back room is or where the gamers meet and she'll point you in the right direction.

The coffee shop stays open until midnight, so you are free to come and play until around then.

We play all types of games, more recently including The Resistance: Avalon, 7 Wonders, Quelf, Dixit, Android: Netrunner, Keyflower, Last Night on Earth, and Manhattan Project. If you have a game you'd like to play, just ask and you'll probably find a group. We're a diverse group with a broad taste!

A thought on The Resistance Avalon ... I'm not so sure that "the hammer vote" should be assumed as an all "yes". While I understand that a fail gives the win to the spies, they must also be careful not to be obvious about it. Therefore, the resistance can potentially vote down the mission to show their disapproval of the mission if they truly feel it will fail. Yes, it is a fine line for bluffing and an extreme risk/reward situation, but I still think there is some information to be obtained should everyone still, at the very least, consider the vote. If nothing else, the spies tend to benefit in this situation, since no new information has been obtained. Just an observation, and I would enjoy hearing other people's thoughts on it.

I think you're correct. Normally I ask everyone to go through the motions, and often one or two people will reject the team.

    Good to see everybody!
I will see you when I am back from Spain in January.
    Til' then, game on!

I seriously enjoyed the group last night, and was thrilled with the game selections. I will likely make this a regular weekly event for myself, when I am not traveling for work. Thanks to all who were there that made it a great and enjoyable experience.

Given the weather, how likely are people still to show up? I'm originally from the Chicago land area, so it takes over ten inches before I'd consider cancelling. However ... if no one else is there ... lol

I unfortunately will not. I live far enough away that I don't want to get caught in freezing rain on the way back. Plus I have Irish luck...no need to test it with my car. Raincheck to next week! Sorry guys.

I'll be there like a good soldier, of course.

Hi there! I just was introduced to the echelon of board games beyond your traditional realm (Monopoly, etc). I googled Memphis Game Club and found you all. If timing allows, I may swing by Republic tomorrow to see what you all are about. Hope to see you all tomorrow! :)

We'll be glad to have you. We play everything from Quelf to 7 Wonders to The Resistance to Dixit and beyond. If you liked the "You're a frakking cylon!" parts of Battlestar, you might like The Resistance: Avalon. At heart, I'm definitely a euro gamer, so I'll tote along some heavier games as well. I'm always excited to teach games to new players, so if you get the chance to swing by and you'd like to play, we'll get you all set up. And you're certainly welcome to bring anything of your own (or to request a game you know but don't own.)

My new Haas-Bioroid deck for Netrunner is just invincible. I am also crazy to play Kemet, what a beautiful game.

Nooooo, that's what I play now!!! I think "Next design" is just superfast (and very risky), and I will love to play against it. By the way, fuck: I am feeling pretty sick today and maybe can not make it. But this is not, as my wife will put it, because I am afraid of you, or your new deck, jajaja. Let me see if I am feeling better this afternoon, and I can see you all tonight.

    Hi All,

I've been in Memphis for a year and a half, but have not managed to get engaged with the local board gamers. I was an active part of some gaming groups in the Chicago area.

My preference is resource management style european games, but I can find enjoyment in just about any game.

I look forward to meeting all of you.

I'm looking forward to meeting you as well! I'm a euro gamer at heart, so you'll definitely have someone to play with in this group. I just got New Amsterdam and Canterbury in from CoolStuffInc's Black Friday sale, and I always bring Keyflower and some kind of Stefan Feld game.
