Walter and Meetup -

Yep, good job on the changes. Me like.

Now, if there was only some way to kill the autopost events...I've had a couple of them seriously confuse members by randomly concocting a place to meet, especially when I already have the real next meeting event info posted and haven't been back to the board in a few days to delete the poser. If there is a way (or plans in the works) to disable this "feature", I'd love it.

Hm? hm? pretty please?

Serti-

You've always been able to to disable the auto-created events.

  • Go to your group
  • Click "Organizer Tools..." in the upper left
  • Click the "Settings" tab
  • Click "When are your Meetups"
  • Click "No regular schedule"

Voila! We'll stop scheduling Meetups for you.

Yes, but in the olden days, it was harder to do it. And it still isn't easy even for smart people to figure out on their own. The number one question for my Organizer Geek Night was how to kill auto-created events...

Hmm

Love the look. Love the features. Love the site!

One little thing - when one of the organizers posts an event, they can ask for email notification when someone RSVPs. Unfortunately, that notification just goes to the head organizer. I wonder if it would be possible to send the notification to the person posting the event? (I have a couple of groups and really rely on my AOs).

And, is there any possibility of having a calendar on the main page, so that we can see on which days events are booked? Just a thought.

Meanwhile, GREAT JOB Meetup people!!biggrin

On behalf of all of us, thank you!

We're looking at making this very change. Usually we don't focus on improvements that help such a small number of groups (only 20% or so have Assistant Organizers, only a subset of them have Assistants setting up events, and only a subset of THEM prefer those notifications to go to the Assistants) but this is a relatively ways change so we'll probably make it sooner than later.

We're actually spending a LOT of time this Summer looking at a variety of ways to make things more calendar-centric in their presentation. We don't have any final decisions yet but I expect you'll see some form of a calendar presentation this year.

Video and venue editing are awesome! Keep up the great improvements! I also like the RSVPs to date graphic.

Walter,

Since this seems to be a new feature, and there is not a "What's new in July!" post yet, we need some help.

Early this week, we began to notice that when visitors came to our group, (http://fashion.meetup... ), The group organizer's photo is now showing directly on the group's photo. This is a distraction to the purpose of our group, which is to have a group where everyone in Chicago's Fashion Industry could join, participate in fashion industry events, and have a equal voice in what the group does.

Superimposing the organizer's photo over the group photo sends the message that we are more important than the group members, which is not the case. Could you please tell us how to disable that feature? Thanks for your help,

Dichma from ISYL

Dichma:

I just took a look at your Meetup site, and I'm not seeing where the Organizer's photo covers the group photo.

It looks like your Meetup Welcome Page showcases the first Meetup's photo album from here .

Did you want to change which photo album is currently featured? Or are you seeing something different?

Please feel free to send a screenshot to support@meetup.com directly so we can investigate further.

Thanks for your help!

Andrea

Hi Andrea,

I have sent the screenshot as instructed, but I think that maybe the problem is with our computers. After looking at the problem again, it seems to be some type of misalignment. Perhaps we have a bad setting in Internet Explorer somewhere.

Oh, but just so you know, the problem only exists 'before' you are logged in. if you are logged in, the problem is no longer there. Thanks

Thanks for your respnse, and I'm glad to hear you are already at work on the things I mentioned.

I had another thought, that kind of goes with the calendar thing. I was wondering if a calendar could show members birthdays, as well as events?
