Hi everyone,
As promised, we listened to your comments and reports about the December upgrade and updated the site. Here's what we did! 1. The most important thing: We separated RSVP comments from more general conversation about the event. The RSVP now works exactly as it did before (including changing your comment, including the comment in the email to the Organizer, showing the person's title, etc), but now people can have additional conversation as well. 2. We fixed the issue where if you left the "Why" or "Who" fields empty, they would still show up on the meeting page. For all meetings created from now on, they will not appear at all if the Organizer leaves those fields blank when creating a new meeting. (These new fields are optional, by the way.) 3. We fixed the issue where some of the meeting descriptions were being truncated/hidden. (Thanks again, Gail!) 4. We fixed the missing member profile questions for groups that require an Organizer's approval to join. Here's what we did NOT do: 1. Organizer-less events. If someone is hosting an event, they need to be either the Organizer or an assistant Organizer. We understand that this isn't ideal for some Meetups (eg play dates) but we're not going to change this right now. Many of you have suggested some clever partial work-arounds on this board, such as using the "where can you find the Organizer" field to explain. Another possibility is to make the playdate host an assistant Organizer temporarily. 2. Official waiting lists. We know you guys want this, but for now you'll need to keep using your clever work-arounds. It's on our list of feature requests from Organizers to get done, but as I've said before (here and here ) we're making stuff for a wide variety of Meetup Organizers and members and we want to keep everyone happy! 3. Photos on the home page in the meeting description. We never intended this as a "feature" - it's something you guys just started using. So the photos you inserted won't appear on the home page (though they'll still appear on the meeting page). However, we have plans to include actual functionality in a future update. 4. The Outlook issue. We've tried and tried and can't replicate this issue (and therefore can't fix it!). We will continue to look into this. 5. A bunch of other feature requests, etc. that you asked about. Those will go onto our big list of ideas from you and will be considered for future updates. That's about it. Have a great holiday everyone! |

1. The most important thing: We separated RSVP comments from more general conversation about the event. The RSVP now works exactly as it did before (including changing your comment, including the comment in the email to the Organizer, showing the person's title, etc), but now people can have additional conversation as well. Well done, as I feel that talking about an event that will be held in the future adds buzz to the event... even though some people use the message board, etc. This is much more powerful of an approach. I also noticed the new RSVP change screen. Much better, even though people with 1800 members will have a huge list to scroll through, they will be able to maintain their group much better than that pop-up slower screen. Thanks for working overtime on these issues as it did affect many people, not so much myself. PT |

Christina,
Thanks for all that you do. I have just one issue. I hate to nitpick but it doesn't work exactly has it did before. I really wish the comment box under the RSVP could be visible at all times just like it used to be. You now have to click on change your RSVP to edit your comment. Before the box was always there. I know this will confuse ALOT of our members. Is this very small but important change possible? We really hate the talk about this event feature. That is what the comment box is for. It makes the event page look very cluttered. Any chance we will get the ability to turn this off? Karen |

As promised, we listened to your comments and reports about the December upgrade and updated the site. Here's what we did! In order to manage the very active wait lists for my very active 1500+ member hiking group and our 2-3 events per week, I still need to be able to SEE member comments that are with their RSVP *at the same time* that I'm making changes to their RSVP status. The RSVP function does NOT work exactly the way it did before. |

Christina, Just a few questions, will it still auto RSVP the organizer listed and if it does will it let you change your RSVP to a "NO" if you aren't going to attend? Edited to add --- I did mention this on the other thread but thanks sooooo much for the ablility to adjust/take attendance! I love this feature. Also, I appreciate the hard work and effort from the whole meetup team. It's unfortunate that some people can't express discontent without such negativity and down right rudeness. Thanks and Happy Holidays!! |

Thank you very much. I love the updates.
Hopefully the outlook will start to work since that is how I keep myself organized....everything goes into Outlook and then into the Palm! |
