Hey, I'm sure I'll adapt to the new RSVP method. But, I have two complaints about changes to meetup posting
(1) Why did you restore the multisection meeetup posting format? It's somewhat harder to use. I remember you did this once before, and changed it back because no one liked it. How did it get applied again?
(2) It's great that it's easier to link to posted files and upcoming meetups. But, it's harder to link to external URLs. I actually have to click the thing with my mouse again. Can we change that bit to having the textbox for a web url available in the top level 'Linked To' menu again?

Thanks! I see attendance is now countable. I've already used this feature to remove a comment a member regretted! (ah, that should be easier.) But, groups of six people are split into 8 or 9 alphabetic bins, which makes that a little hard to use. How about letting the computer figure out which letters to split at to give you pages of 20? And I see that I can add people who didn't RSVP post facto, something that might be useful, but having all those members makes the list a little unmanageable.

Christina & all at Meetup,

Whew! And thank you very much! You have just made our lives much easier.

I had never posted on these forums before this debacle but I plan to start monitoring them now. I hope you will consider beta testing future UIs to avoid any repeat performances! Count me among those who would be happy to participate.

Happy holidays,

Beth

Christina,
Just a few questions, will it still auto RSVP the organizer listed and if it does will it let you change your RSVP to a "NO" if you aren't going to attend?

Hi there,

You will still get auto RSVPed and yes, you can still RSVP "No" (or "Maybe") if you're not going to attend.

Thanks
Maya

Hi Maura,

As promised, we listened to your comments and reports about the December upgrade and updated the site. Here's what we did!

1. The most important thing: We separated RSVP comments from more general conversation about the event. The RSVP now works exactly as it did before (including changing your comment, including the comment in the email to the Organizer, showing the person's title, etc), but now people can have additional conversation as well.

In order to manage the very active wait lists for my very active 1500+ member hiking group and our 2-3 events per week, I still need to be able to SEE member comments that are with their RSVP *at the same time* that I'm making changes to their RSVP status.

The RSVP function does NOT work exactly the way it did before.

No, it doesn't, but I'm so happy to have the comments back where they belong on the event page that I'm willing to live with a workaround until there's a better system. What I do is right-click on the "change RSVPs" link and choose to open the link in a new window. Then I can view the comments and change RSVPs at the same time. It's not convenient and I liked it better the old way, but it's workable.

HTH,

Beth

Thanks for fixing RSVP comments. Now this Upgrade is 100% happy for me, instead of being only 90% happy.

Hi everyone,

As promised, we listened to your comments and reports about the December upgrade and updated the site. Here's what we did!

1. The most important thing: We separated RSVP comments from more general conversation about the event. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! That's the best news ever and I think having both the talk about the event and the rsvp comments are great! I know occasionally car pools etc is neccessary and its great its there, just have to get used to using it and checking it lol Did I mention Thank You?? Cause this is GREAT!!!

2. We fixed the issue where if you left the "Why" or "Who" fields empty, they would still show up on the meeting page. For all meetings created from now on, they will not appear at all if the Organizer leaves those fields blank when creating a new meeting. (These new fields are optional, by the way.)

YAY! THanks!

4. We fixed the missing member profile questions for groups that require an Organizer's approval to join.

Very helpful esp for the groups that are private and require this info before accepting them etc!! ROCK ON!
Here's what we did NOT do:

1. Organizer-less events. If someone is hosting an event, they need to be either the Organizer or an assistant Organizer. We understand that this isn't ideal for some Meetups (eg play dates) but we're not going to change this right now. Many of you have suggested some clever partial work-arounds on this board, such as using the "where can you find the Organizer" field to explain. Another possibility is to make the playdate host an assistant Organizer temporarily.

I really wish we could just add a box that says others, that would satisfy probably 100% of the members of every meetup group. There are sooo many that have host that are not organizers regardless of if they are moms group, hobby group, movie group etc that it would be beneficial to have an other and fill in the box with the name.

I do think it would be incredibly ridiculous to make someone an asst org every time they had a playdate. I have 89 members and they have to host 2 events a year, thats to much.

Anyways I keep hoping and wishing that meetup would really consider adding just the optional box, don't have to do away with the current but giving an other so they know NOT to look for that organizer.

Overall I am very happy!!! Happy Holidays!

I'm adding my thanks for returning the comments to their matching RSVPs.

In fact, I think now we have the best of both worlds; people can make their initial comments -- yeah, maybe or nay -- and those who want to have an in-depth conversation about the upcoming event have the perfect place to do it.

How do I edit my RSVP comment ??? I don't like the new view either. It still isn't 100% functional.
