Here's an idea that might work.

I am an event planner for MeetIn.org and when I post an event I can add a host by putting their member number in and the system recognizes them even though they are not an event planner themselves and for the event gives them the same acccess I have.

For those groups with large memberships you can download the member list as an Excel spreadsheet to make it easier to their member number (or the member can supply it to you when you discuss ther event before hand).

Of course you still need an Organizer or AO to set the event up but once it's done the host can take over from there.

As I'm not a programmer, I don't know if it would work with MeetUp's software, but at least we know it is possible to adapt it.

The changes are horrible, miss the old way and don't understand why they changed what was working.

We now have some degree of control over post event RSVPs, that is a big plus for many people.

We have the ability to state which organiser is to recieve RSVP emails and is 'in charge' of the event, that is also a big plus for some too.

OK, so it's not perfect yet, but I am willing to cut Meetup some slack this time. (Did I sound a bit too positive there? - Nah. 'S OKtongue)

As a newer assistant organizer I like the new RSVP changes. In Florida they say if you dont like the weather, " wait a few minutes and it will change"....things at Meetup will change too. Great things just don't happen overnight, let's give them the chance to "change" also like the weather. smile

I second this -- what a cut-and-paste pain to add calendar events into Outlook. Hey -- all the hotel chains are doing this -- it's a executable that arrives via a reservation confirmation link. Why not consult with them and get some help to make this happen?!? Thanks! Julie.cool

p.s. -- PLEASE put the event ratings back in the body of the emails!!! I used this to keep track of our ratings -- now that's taken away. Why did you start doing that? It's a pain too, what with IE7 running slower and slower these days?!!!

I have (mostly) enjoyed Organizing for the past two years and intend to continue. But I'm disheartened and a little surprised by other Organizer's who become frustrated with changes and decide to create their own thing or use other sites for social networking purposes.

Several have said that Meetup is dumbing down the software, obviously for the purpose of making it easier for people to organize groups and thus make more money. Some changes are good, others are bad. The good ones seem to be ones that are highly requested.

As many other Organizers have said "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." How many motivated and capable Organizers have to quit the site for Meetup to get this?

Hotmail has an option of choosing the software version that you prefer- can't Meetup offer this too? Someone mentioned a Basic or Ultimate package with regards to being ad-free. I think a Basic should be for those of us with more experience on Meetup who don't need all the bells and whistles. Is this about as likely to happen as my seeing snow here in Florida?

Nah, once in a while, you'll see snow in Florida, I'm sure.tongue

These new changes are so confusing to me. Last night when I posted events I later realized it had asutomatically RSVPed me as a YES to everything. How do I change that? Also, most of my events are limited, and now you can't see this! Am I missing something?

is there a way a search feature can be added to these miniforums? forums are pretty useless if you can't search for old posts which might contain useful information.
