Hi Jennifer!
These new changes are so confusing to me. Last night when I posted events I later realized it had asutomatically RSVPed me as a YES to everything. How do I change that? I'm afraid that you cannot disable the auto-RSVP function, that's a new feature. It's meant to be for your convenience. It's also encouraging to fellow members too! Also, most of my events are limited, and now you can't see this! Am I missing something? You aren't actually missing anything. The limits are there, however, expected attendees will only display if there are more than 5 people who've RSVP'd yes or maybe for the event. The 'There's only room for XYZ more' notification will only display if the number of available spots is less than one half of the total RSVP limit. I hope that make sense! If I can clarify further, please let me know. Thanks, Andrea |

Thanks for the info, Andrea (meetup), but I agree with the other Andrea. What a pain to have to go back in and change my RSVP every time. And I post stuff a month or two in advance, so how am I suppose to definately know if I am going to go or not?
Also, I have had several people email me because they thought I didn't put a limit on their event, when in actuality they couldn't see it yet because onyl a few people have RSVPed. These changes are more of an inconvenience! Jen L. |

Hi Frances:
What purpose does this serve?? I have many people emailing me saying that the event says limit of say 10 but the "expected number is 6" they are confused. I know my group can't be the only one having this issue. So I have people on the No list as the waiting list when they could RSVP yes but it seems they can't due to the So and So numbers. Again this seems senseless. Why not have Limit: 10 Members and Expected Members: 6 so people aren't so confused. I'm sorry if you feel that's confusing. It was intended to encourage RSVPs, not discourage them! We appreciate your feedback about it, and I've forwarded these concerns along to the product folks too. Not sure if this is the proper place to drop off suggestion for furture updates but here it goes. I would like to see a search eng. where weare able to locate members within the Meetup system. I have a list of people which Meetup says live in my aea but I can not click on a link to take me to that persons page to invite them to my group(s).

I wonder if there is a way to disable the "shout out" feature on the site. I think it's way too impersonal. If someone wants to contact another member, they should just email them through the site. With shout out, EVERYONE gets to read the messages you write to the other person.
I recently had someone join one of my sites and it seems as though they did a shout out to ALL of the women. To me, that send out very bad signals. Meetup keeps making changes to the site, but I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing. They should just leave well enough alone. |

With shout out, EVERYONE gets to read the messages you write to the other person. I'm on the fence about the shouts myself, I like them 30% and hate them 70%. I have a friends group which is singles and couples both and alot of the female members get spammed with shouts from male members they have never met or met once which is pretty obvious that the guys are just trying to get a foot in the door so to speak which in turn sends out the wrong signals about the group to them resulting in some of them quitting the group and meetup altogether. as a sidenote: It would be nice if there was an option where you have to approve shouts BEFORE they appear on your profile and be able to select for each shout whether to keep it private (hidden) or publicly display it on your profile. Similar to the approve or deny option on Myspace comments. |

Hi Bart:
I would like know as I have asked customer service to respond 3 times now and they haven?t but did they remove the ability to add pictures within the event description there used to be a way to include in under the link tab We generally respond to support email within 24 hours. I'm sorry that you haven't heard back yet, or if there was a delay! You can add photos to your event description two ways: (a) Through the upload tool, during the edit event process; or (b) By using the [img] tags I checked out the past event you forwarded to support, as a sample of what you would like to do now. You can still format your event descriptions that way. Just add the url address for the image, with [img] tags, exactly where you want the photo appear. You can no longer see the images on your main group profile page (the welcome page). Please know that we're working on adding that view back, so please stay tuned! I hope this helps - Thanks for your patience, Andrea |
