I think it's a very well run Organization (which is why I choose it over their other, disorganized and scatterbrained competitors - cough: MEETINLA,

I know what you mean.

I am an event planner for the local Meetin group and hold joint events between them and my Meetup.
I always let members know about the other groups involved wether thay are on the same platform or not and have seen more meetin members join Meetup than the other way around.

I think part of this is our groups are customized to what we want them to do where they are general. IE" my main group does only karaoke events so members know we will have a couple of events per month where they can sing while the other platform may not always have events in all their topics.

Plus Meetin relies on members hosting events and I have heard from many members that they prefer Meetup because we have Organizer and AO's who do the hard work for them and all they have to do is show up.

Viviane here, again, from Meetup.

Question: the dozen of you that have asked for the option to turn on/off the Meetup Shop icon on the group pages...
is anyone interested in being able to customize the link so that it points to your store if you have one set up?

If those of you who have posted on this and the other threads about the Shop icon could chime in, that would be helpful (and I'll cross-post this)

We're looking at all the options here because what we want is to help you promote your Meetup!

Thanks.

YES YES YES!!!! That would absolutely be ideal. I would much rather do that than have it disapear completely.

My members are much more likely to purchase the products since they are right there in their face which is what we want. Some groups use the money earned to offset their costs. Others use the money to purchase products for members.

Either way THIS is what we are looking for!!!

If you do this you will totally earn some brownie points!!! smile

biggrin Agree! I still think the option should be there to either have it or not though for those who do not have shops but do not care to have the logo there!

ROFL over brownie points! Will I be able to apply them towards future releases?? I'm SO saving that post! biggrin

So, gang, I'm looking into all of this, but either option - the ability to turn it on/off or edit the link so it points to your store - can't be done overnight.

I know you all want immediate action, however, I ask for your patience as we work out the details. When I have a definitive plan of action and a date, I'll share it with you, k?

I'm singing the chorus of the familiar song with Len-

Please give your paying organizers some say BEFORE the upgrades. Tell us what you plan, let us beta test it.

Wouldn't it be nicer than shoving stuff we, your cutomers, don't want down our throats and then dealing with long threads of unhappy customers?

I don't organize Meetings. Meetups, yes, but not Meetings. I avoid meetings. And my dogs don't do meetings either; they have play date Meetups.

Geez, use your own corporate name/increase your branding that way.

And yes, give the orgs who worked very hard to create their own stuff a chance to promote it.

Yes Viviane. I will allow those brownie points to be transferable to other upgrades.
