This is by far the most ridiculously worthless "upgrade" Meetup has launched to date.
If a member can "thumbs up" a comment, one should also have the ability to "thumbs down" it as well. If all we want is sunshine, why not change the ratings to only have a five star option? 4) less privacy for members As for the less privacy issue I would like to comment that it does not give you less. The comments seen on the profile is only the PUBLIC groups one belongs to. 6) defeats the manage comments Organizers had to not show all comments Not at all. On the about page the Org can opt to have a comment not be shown but it doesn't eliminate it from the comments shown. Those are still present under the same see all comments option. -Mary |

This is a stupid, useless feature.
Please take it down asap. It clutters the page and it does not contribuite to the group ratings in any way. Thanks. |

I just saw this "Thumbs Up" thing on my website this morning and nearly fell out of my chair! I totally agree with others and give it a THUMBS DOWN!!! It would have been so very nice and considerate of Meetup.Com to send organizers a heads up about this first and/or an option for us to turn it off the feature. I'm not fond of surprises--especially if they negate the positive and professional image I am trying create with my meetups.

If a member can "thumbs up" a comment, one should also have the ability to "thumbs down" it as well. Ditto!! There's a few comments I would definitely like to Thumb's Down. |

Yep... I have to agree about all this... not a helpful upgrade at all.
While we are on the topic of useful things... I have just drafted up a lot of things that have been on my mind as an Organizer since I started last August. Hopefully... the next upgrade will include some or all of these items: (1) I'd like to be able to view three months on one page of the Calendar instead of just two. (2) I'd also like to have my own personal calendar on there for personal events that other Members can not see, so I can keep myself organized on the groups events that I organize, as well as other commitments I make to go to other groups' functions. Would be great if we could color code these, as well. (3) Instead of making the whole Meetup "private" and just showing the Welcome & About Us pages... I think it would be great to give the Organizer options of what they want to share by way of all the links on the left side of the page. An example of what I mean is that I don't care to make my group private, but I would like the option to just keep our Message Board or Calendar private. (4) Regarding the Message Boards -- on AOL there is something very helpful on there -- after you have read messages you have the option to only read the unread messages on any thread. Now, I find that if a thread has 100 posts, I still have to go through the other 99 to get to the one I have not yet read. (5) When I send an email to specific members in the group that have RSVP'd "yes" "no" "maybe" or "have not yet RSVP'd" and get the copy back from Meetup's offices... it reads "The Organizer has sent the following message to some members." I would find it much more helpful it that were changed to specifically state which group of Members it was sent to. Example: "The Organizer has sent this Message to Members who have RSVP'd "maybe" for (name of) event." Or, "The Organizer has sent the following message to Members "who have not yet RSVP'd" for (name of) event." (6) In keeping your Membership to various groups private -- you can't really do that as an Organizer. I don't need everybody to know all the groups I belong to, but if I make my Memberships private -- then the 3 groups I organize will not show up. I'd like the option of showing just my own groups that I organize, and be able to not show regular memberships to other groups. Thanks for reading... Pamela ![]() |
