I have not seen a single post from anyone who likes this change, so why are we keeping it? What good is feedback if it is COMPLETELY IGNORED? Translation: Will it take the word of some Power Organizers and Meetup Favorite Staff to acknowledge how dreadful this change is? I still can't get an answer from anyone at Meetup as to whether it was ever an option to leave comments BEFORE an event. The big 'rah rah' selling point thing seems to be leaving comments AFTER an event, and I want to know: Weren't people leaving comments AFTER an event, anyway? People already *were* leaving comments after the event already occurred...! Can somebody from Meetup address this? Andrea? |

Brian,
Yes, you could leave comments on the Discuss This Meeting section or you could rate future events by using the Renee Method before. That wasn't the correct translation to what I was saying. I for one LIKE the new changes. I am sure other organizers do also. You have to remember there are way more organizers out there than those who post to these boards. Rachel ![]() |

I am an assistant organizer and we just had a great event in the Keys and when you go the event to post your comments it doesn't appear after you do the survey. Who exactly is the survey for? If anyone the comments should be reflected on the event posting like it was before so all can see. Why make everything so difficult? Why create additional steps just for the one thing people want to which is post their comments. The survey is useless in its present form. All this weekly tweaking is making the site more cumbersome.

I am sure other organizers do also. You have to remember there are way more organizers out there than those who post to these boards. two thoughts here: perhaps Meetup should send a poll to EVERY ORG one week after these programming changes to get feedback; maybe even the star and lost comment method. Then actually publish the results. Perhaps if the squeaky wheels really are a minority, there *might* be less complaints posted. perhaps the Orgs who do not post to the boards can't find the forums, and/or don't know they exist. OK, maybe three thoughts: perhaps the silent Orgs have experienced a lack of response on previous issues-- and I don't even have to list even the top 3 of the many, very popular requests for functionality improvements that are supposedly 'on the radar' but have no hint of when or if the requests will be made real. I am typically one of those silent organizers, but this was an issue that I couldn't be silent about. This is affecting the entire reason that I keep my group at Meetup. The satisfaction that we all got from the comments is one of the things that keeps organizers organizing. It's our motivation.
My group has just been featured in a local magazine and we'll be on television news in the next few weeks. We've gotten new members because of the publicity and I have no way to see what they think of the group. They can't see what current members think because nobody is taking the time to post comments. The timing of this change is extremely frustrating to me, but I think that I would be very frustrated no matter when it happened. I just wish that Meetup would leave well enough alone. |

I have received emails about the Key West trip. However no one else knows how good it was. Believe me people gauge an event based on the comments posted however when none are shown it gives those who didn't attend that it wasn't worth commenting about.
One member who went on the trip has already told me he tried to post and it didn't appear. I tried to explain but he told me it's too much of an aggravation. I know other members are not going to bother with the survey now. I am not. I have read all these post and maybe except for one person we are all saying the same things about the Rate the Meetup change. There may be way more organizers out there than those who post to these boards. But why bother when stating "thanks for all the feedback" is meaningless. Apparently, the majority who have taken the time don't like the change. I would suspect based on the sample who did post, way more organizers out there who don't post on these boards don't like the change either. |

I am sure other organizers do also. You have to remember there are way more organizers out there than those who post to these boards. Of course not and it is silly to think that way. Meetup always reads these boards and listens to what people who post here want. BUT they have to do what is best for ALL of the groups and not just those that post here! Rachel |

I 2nd Bart's opinions. Members are NOT going to take the time to go back to the calendar, click on an event, and write something using "Talk About this Meeting" to post their feedback. Most didn't bother when it was just a matter of clicking on an email link. Now when new members join the the group and check out past events, they aren't going to see comments, and they aren't going to know how things went. This rate the comments thing is just inane--a cheesy digg it ripoff. Maybe it is just those that hate these changes that are posting, as Rachel seems to think, and everyone else is silent cuz they luv the changes. Kind of doubt it though. But if you really think its the case, send out some surveys.

BUT they have to do what is best for ALL of the groups and not just those that post here! ZOMG. I'm ~~~practically~~~~~ speechless. the check is in the mail I'm from the goernment and I'm here to help you. I'll still respect you in the morning. Just how, without feedback, do they know what is best for all? Omnipotence does not seem to be the forte. |
