quick: how does meetup.com get money for all those employees when users pay nada and I see no ads ?

I'd like to cross advertise meetup.com on yahoo, match, singlesnet, etc... personals but they refuse my right to speech - they delete any reference to any other personals sites.

I hope you people, in your own greed of spreading the word and doing better, could seek to prevent them from limiting my speech.

I wish this for better "advertising" of myself but also feel meetup.com is a wonderful tool for society, has shown great benefits for society, and should be applauded freely, without censorship

Hi there!

There are ads powered by google to the left sidebar. Organizers pay meetup.com to run groups, thus their main source for income.

If you google or yahoo search for groups subjects in your area and there is a group on meetup.com, it's usually up in the first five listings. Meetup does do a little advertising in NY (where they are based) but I'm not sure how much. HTH.
