Beth, if you move your mouse over the main photo, you should see the thumbnails "slide" up from the bottom of the main photo so you can navigate to the others. It will hide again when you move your mouse away. When you first load the page, it should be showing.

This is a horrible horrible way of navigating pictures! It was so much easier to navigate when there were thumbnails to the side. This is one "improvement" that you didn't need to make!

Have you ever addressed the "Reply" situation regarding when a person uses their own mail client to send mail to the meetup group? Currrently, if the receiver clicks "reply" (as we all are in the habit of doing with all emails),
it sends the reply to the whole group. There should be a default setting for this. My bet is the majority will set it to send the reply just to the sender.
Thanks.

just turn off the mailing list...or dont use it...hope that helps

Why are the photo captions way down in the left corner now? You barely notice them because the pop up stuff gets in the way!

My Two Cents:

Pro:
- Like the new upload. It is a bit slow to load but I can over look that to get the images up.

Con:
- Myself and most of the members that have looked at the photo navigation all agree. It is a very unpleasant experience. Sorry to say that. Love the big picture and fade but the navigation is at first not clear where it is at for the new user. It is a game of hide and seek. Users hate that. Second it eats up the lower 1/3 of the pic. It adds way too much clicking around to get to the next pic. Ideally it should be below the big picture with arrows for those that do not know how to go to the next pic.
- I seriously dislike the photo album thumb nails on the side. It hides most of the albums from view. I thought the old display was perfect. Why ruin a good thing?
- Lastly I understand the desire for comments on photos. However we need a way to turn them off. Why because it is one more place and site organizer has to police and that takes time to review all the time. We need an option to turn off comments for those who do not want them.

Notes:
- I am using Ubuntu Linux 8.10 and all seems to work fine.

Thanks!

the "albums" are on the side... harder to find ones specific to events.

Is there a way to turn off meetup e-mailing me every time someone comments a on photo.. please..? :) I dont like getting flooded with e-mails about comments made on pictures! I dont mind if the members comment.. just dont want to receive the e-mail every time someone does! Please let me turn this "off" so it doesnt flood my inbox.. :)

Edit: I have found the option with the help of another member.. I hate that it was by default turned "on" but for anyone else that doesnt want to be flooded with e-mails every time someone comments.. its in your Account / Membership & Communications.. you can unsubscribe there.. :)

the NEXT and PREV links should be added back...(not fancy rollover controls just plain boring simple links for those who can't use or figure out the scroll up navigation) maybe add a SLIDE SHOW link to flip through all the photos...

and I agree that having a more complete list of the albums like before was better than the 5 on the side thing.

I do like the much larger photo display!

have not tried the upload tool yet but it sounds good.

oh and the comment box definitely could be smaller... or only pop open if someone clicks a link to comment.

Folks, thanks for all the feedback. Some notes:

- We are looking to get next and prev links back in for next week (in the meantime, a hidden bit of functionality is that you can page back and forth through the pics by clicking on right or left side of photo).
- We will lift the pagination size for the albums to something more reasonable as well as investigate a better way to navigate all albums for those of you who have lots of albums

We have had lots of requests for (and we believe them to be a good thing) larger pics as well as photo comments. Our goal was to add functionality w/out making the section more complicated by adding additional "layers" you have to click through to see photos. We will continue to iterate and improve the layout to accomplish all of this.

I AGREE - and it is very annoying when viewing portrait then to landscape - too much movement. Our site has hundreds of photos to view. Can't see date of the previous albums either - no need for such a big comment posting either.

So far, no one in our Meetup Club - KCA - likes the new Album format. It is a major pain when you have large albums like we do for our events. We prefer the old format, thank you.
