The albums no longer have a date of when the last upload was. I have to go through every single photo album to see if the number has changed to view the most recent photo? One other thing I noticed, the photos are not even numbered when you scroll through the album itself. If I delete a photo, I won't know where it came from and it's driving me nuts!

This seriously is NOT working for my photo group and I don't see why I can't just switch to flickr for a mere $29.95 a year as opposed to these fees. It's insane that you would do this without consulting organizers of the photo groups that rely on the photo albums at the very least.

What's the point of having "comments" if we can't see them without scrolling down every single time? Can we get the option of having new comments posted on the "What's New" section? or at least in they view of the photo?

We need:
Easier and more user friendly thumbnails to scroll through - maybe put back the next/previous option?
Photos need to be numbered
Easier access to get to the photo albums
Sorting capability of recently uploaded photos (like the message boards)
I need to see the comments- how do I know people are leaving appropriate comments? I'd hate to be the last to know about potential abuse.

That's it for now, but every time I go and visit my group, I think of more.

See? I forgot to add how annoying it is that the stupid scroll bar is blocking part of the photo and making it difficult to see if the photo has a caption. Not good for a PHOTO group!

Just realized how terrible and annoying this new thing is when I went to look
at new member uploads for our photo group.

Like trying to find a needle in a haystack!

Nobody is going to want to add images to galleries they can't see on the
main page nor are they going to want to look through a group of numbers to
find anything previous.

Bad bad idea that really sucks.

Hello,

I am the organizer of a photography group. Thank you for add more on the unload page and the comment section. (I agree it could be smaller) I understand that some meetup groups do not care about the photo section as much as an photography group does. Love the larger size of pictures.

The way the albums are set up now is not good. What was wrong with the way they were?

The thumbnail photo bar blocks the picture. I know its only when you move the mouse but it sucks that it blocks it at all. Why can't it be down the side of the page?

The person that adds the picture their information in the right hand corner blocks part of the picture. sad It destroys the picture.

When you do photography it's about first impression ...part of the picture being block messes that up.

My $.02

Thanks,
Lisa

If you're using IE8 at all, you need to go into Tools, Options and select "Compatibility View".

Then follow the prompts

Please add to me the list of discontents involving the new photo display and slide show format. I'm sure most of my concerns have been echoed already, but in short the new picture format is slow, cumbersome, and generally frustrating. Given a choice, I'd prefer the old thumbnail style opposed to needing to fight through the scroll bar to see photos.

Kudos on upping the number of photos you can upload, though!

most of my complaints about this new photo section have already been voiced in this thread so i just wanted to repeat my suggestion:

there needs to be an option where an organizer can choose to be notified of any comments on any pictures in that group. i try to make my groups a safe place for my members & i have to ensure that people aren't insulting each other in the photo comments.

i would prefer to disable photo comments in my groups, but a notification, either by email or in the what's new feed would work.

I am a member of the PDX Photography Meetup group. IMHO, the new photo section is far worse that the previous one in nearly every way.

  • The pop thumbnails are distracting to say the least. They overlay the main photo. They pop up whenever the mouse enters that region.
  • Navigating from one photo to another is cumbersome
  • Having a grid of thumbnails was far better than the scrolling capability now.
  • The uploading interface is fairly intuitive and I can select multiple files, but the ability to view thumbnails was an advantage
  • Viewing the high res image is more difficult (clicking the image was far easier)
  • I cannot add a caption when uploading as before. The old way was one less step.
  • I like the comments section but it sends the person an e-mail. Annoying.
  • Having only 4 other albums listed on the right side requires another extra step to see other albums.

I'd prefer adding some tweaks to the old style photo section.
How about giving the organizer the choice between the old photo section and the new one?

I was just accessing the new photo album configuration. I find the pass over feature very annoying as it blocks part of the picture when trying to scroll though the album. You now have to select view original instead of just clicking on the picture when you want to view the larger image. If you click on the picture it does something weird. If you want to continue with this setup I recommend that you make it similar to Google Picasa (not web). Their album feature works very well and the thumbnails are on top and don''t interfere with the selected image. Also on Picasa there are arrows on either side of the thumbnails bar that allow you to quickly scroll though to find images. The slider bar on your site is very cumbersome to use. I generally find the pass over feature very annoying because they tend to pop up even when you are just trying to move the mouse cursor across the screen. I think that this feature was not very well thought out before implementation. That's all I hope that you take this as constructive criticism and find it useful.

I agree with most of the above. I haven't tried the new uploading feature because frankly, I'm not sure I want to bother having to scroll through the pictures when I'm done. The scroll bar is NOT user-friendly, an arrow to click through pictures is must faster and simpler.

I vote to go back to the original album set up (maybe with bigger pictures?), but with the better uploading capability...
