That's a shame, I think we were all hoping someone might actually do something about the god-awful photo album changes!!!!!

That's a shame, I think we were all hoping someone might actually do something about the god-awful photo album changes!!!!! PHOTO SECTION IS TERRIBLE!!! PLEASE REVERT BACK OR I MAY END UP CANCELLING MY SUBSCRIPTION. I'VE GOTTEN SOO MANY COMPLAINTS FROM MY MEMBERS AND IF THIS SECTION DOES NOT CHANGE, I WILL GO BACK TO MY PREVIOUS METHOD OF MAINTAINING MY ORGANIZATION (NON-MEETUP.COM METHOD). I'M VERY UPSET WITH MEETUP FOR NO FEEDBACK OR CONCERN OVER MY INQUIRIES! |

There are about twenty threads on the message boards about the photo problems with various members of meetup staff responding in them.

Hi Butch and GixxeR,
I'm so sorry to hear you're having trouble. We'll need additional information about what's happening in order to investigate further. What browser and operating systems are you using? Can you please reply with a link to the pages where the images aren't loading? I also encourage you to check your java settings to ensure they are current. I've sent you both individual messages seeking more info, and I'll look forward to hearing back from you! Thanks, Andrea |

The problem is not tech related...
The problem is with the Meetup staff who approved and implemented this poor design/layout. First...revert back to the old layout... Second...fire the staff who approved the implementation of this new design.. ~GixxeR |

The problem is not tech related... I think that's a bit extreme and inflammatory. Changes to the photo section should have been tested in the preview group first, to see if organizers liked the overall design, and to work out bugs in the new design only after determining whether the overall design was acceptable. Since there is a preview group, and many of us have signed up to be lab rats in it, why not make good use of it and limit the suffering to those of us who are gluttons for punishment? But it's not productive to talk about firing people, especially since as I understand it this entire enormous network is run by a very small number of people. If a lot of different users of the site complain about something in these forums, Meetup is usually responsive, though it may take a bit of time for them to determine how widespread the disenchantment is and what can or should be done about it from a technical standpoint. So that might be the way to approach it: If your members feel that the changes are an utter disaster, have them contribute their opinions here, as lucidly and calmly as possible. However, email campaigns (which some have suggested on the thread for suggestions) may cross the line into harassment. I don't see this change as a disaster, but then I was just reading about the earthquake in Italy, so my perspective might be skewed. But I did like the simplicity of the old format. Although if slide-show capability came with that scroll bar, I think that would justify that particular change (assuming that the bugs would be worked out, as they typically eventually are with these new releases).
