I can't understand why is everyone congratulating Meetup on a minor 'tweak' to the photo albums??? I find it much less useful than the old Web 1.0 photo list.

While it is nice the filmstrip can be hidden, the photo info still blocks 1/5 of the photo. The photo displayed is too small, and to see larger photos you have to click in two separate windows!

I like that you can now see all photos in an album, but the icons are so small as to be unusable, and when you click on one, you again see the small photo (from the default photo/filmstrip layout).

Here are some changes that bring back features from the old photo albums and should NEVER have been lost:

  • Don't cover the photo with anything!
    • Put the filmstrip outside the photo
    • Put the photo info as a pop-out outside the photo
  • When clicking on a photo, go to the full size image
  • While the filmstrip is 'cool' it is SLOW. Bring back the native scrolling window of photo icons
  • Let the user adjust size of icons on the 'all photos' page and the size of the photos displayed on the main photo page
    • I have a 1600x1200 screen - Why should I be limited to a 600x400 pixel photo?
    • Many users have 1920x1200 or even 2560x1920!

Please make the photo area more usable.

Hey Miles,

I'm sorry for any trouble you've experience.

Hmmm, you mention that the info is over the photo?

Is your window minimized, and what browser are you using? I'm afraid each browser can scale differently. For instance, I know that Internet Explorer will act this way. I would recommend trying it on a different browser, and see if you are still experiencing this.

The photos that are shown in the album are now larger than they were in the previous version, and you can view (or save with the copyright holder's permission) a larger or smaller version than in the previous photo uploader/viewer. I'm afraid if all the photos were loading in their largest size, it might take a good while to load the page.

You mention that the filmstrip is slow. I'd like to get more information about your experience. I will email you privately to get that information.

Thanks
Emeline
