Hi folks --

This week's release features mostly internal improvement, fixes on the back-end, and other behind-the-scenes upgrades that we hope will have the site running better and loading faster. We've also squashed the following bugs:

  • Event comments made by former members of the group linked back to the events page. We've removed this link.
  • We fixed the success message when saving a draft if your location matches other possible Meetup Places.
  • The registration process for potential sponsors who wish to contact organizers and groups through the site has been streamlined.
  • When editing a Meetup event, we no longer automatically add you to the list of "Who's organizing" if you're not on it already. We still add your name the first time you create an event.
  • Newly created topics are categorized under "Other" in the browse section.
  • We improved the wording of your post if you post to Facebook after RSVP'ing.
  • We fixed some alignment and layout issues for those of you using IE7
  • The "Suggest a Meetup" link used to show on calendar pages for everyone, and not just members of that group. We've changed it to be visible only to group members.

As usual, we plan for this release to go live on Tuesday, May 12, 2009.

Thanks,
Ana

Much appreciated, does this mean it also doesn't auto-rsvp yes for us as well? While we're on the topic havs it been considered to remove the auto-yes RSVP for the orgnating organizer of the event? I'm so sick of "un RSVPing" to twenty two events a month.

We have the same problem since we have a joint account that we use as "Who's Organizing" so we have to remove the RSVP on every sinlge event.

And chat!!! It would be great to have a chat option for those currently online... but, then again, we've been asking for that since the beginning....

Chat?!?!

That's a good start.smile
Now if we could be allowed to untick our name when we originally post an event for a member, that would be great.biggrin
By all means default it to ticked, but allow us to remove the tick by choice.
(or better yet, be able to configure who can do what exactly...)

That's great - but you still remove the other organizers when you copy an event. I'm failing to understand why you think copy doesn't mean copy, but instead means copy-most-bits-but-leave-out-other-bits, especially when copying an event used to keep the "Who's Organizing" list intact.

Thank you very much!

I've been posting about this for quite some time, so I'm very pleased that you've taken care of it. Thank you!

When I sign in, the Your Meetups is a day behind. Right now I see Tuesday May 12 events and today is Wednesday.

Oh forgot to mention, I'm using IE8 and Windows XP. Both crappy examples of worthless MS.
