Weekly Release for Wed, May 20th, 2009

Hey folks,

Here are the bugs fixes and enhancements for this release:

• Added language text links to the footer of the site
  
• Fixed German translation for RSVP button
  
• Fixed Portuguese translation for RSVP button
  
• Fixed several bugs in IE8 (map animations, improved the way the "Add another topic" button on group settings was being displayed and the size of the membership dues margin)
  
• Added left navigation to the page where you edit your Meetup Places in Group Settings
  
• Fixed the "Remove this place" link under Group Settings > Your Places
  
• Fixed the "Join our group to post a comment" link in the photos section
  
• Meetup HQ is waiving additional Meetup fees on Amazon Payments transactions indefinitely*
  
• Improved the error message on the change password screen if the current password is incorrect or the retyped new password is mismatched

Folks, we found a few problems in our final rounds of testing. Postponing this release for a bit to do some further testing. We will keep you posted when going to launch.

Excited about the waiving of Amazon transaction fees! Thanks Meetup!

Meetup HQ is waiving Amazon Payments transaction fees indefinitely.

Could you further clarify/explain this, please?

thank you SO much for waiving the transaction fees, guys! now THAT really helps, as it eliminates the uncertainty about those charges. I can plan using Amazon regularly knowing that I won´t have to drop it tomorrow because there are ghost fees on the horizon that I might not like

I hope you NEVER add the feature I saw yesterday here (a link advertising other groups on my same topic, right in the middle of our group´s homepages) - please take forever to test that! :o))) or give us organizers the option to turn that new "feature" off

Let me just clarify the point about Amazon fees: we are waiving any potential additional fees on Meetup's side on all Amazon transactions. We've never collected extra fees and are now confirming that we won't be doing so in the future. As Nestor points out, we hope that this will eliminate any uncertainty and allow you to plan if you'd like to use Amazon Payments through Meetup to collect your group-related payments.

The fees that remain applicable are standard transaction fees that Amazon Payments imposes. For more on these, see this article in our Ogranizer Resources Center.

It is nice to hear that Meetup has changed their minds, and will not be adding on their own additional fee. I, for one, will now start using Amazon more. I was holding back on using something that I would have to pay more to use, down-the-line.

Please add support for Unicode/Cyrillic text! I want to type in Russian for our Russian meetup group, but that is impossible now!!
