Hey everyone,
Our release was delayed a day due to our Memorial Day holiday in America. (Hope everyone enjoyed their barbecues!) It'll be launching tomorrow, Wednesday. Got two cool features for you today, and some other tweaks and fixes, as usual. Import your contacts to tell your friends about Meetup It's now easier to invite people to the Meetup Groups you organize, to tell your friends about Meetup groups they'd like, and to let people know about Meetup in general. We already have a form on the site that you can use to send people an email invitation to Meetup. Now, we've taken that and made it much easier - you can import your contacts directly from your email service. To start, we've implemented this with Gmail, but stay tuned for Yahoo and other services soon. For security (we never store your password), we guide you off Meetup briefly so you can log into your email service, and then bring you back Meetup so you can see a list of your contacts. Then you can check off whoever you'd like to invite. And of course we never use those email addresses for anything except to send that initial email. You can find this page to invite friends on every page in the footer, in the Promote section of a Meetup Group, and after you RSVP for a Meetup. Try it out - invite your friends to Meetup! Easily add topics to your interests Whether you're already a member of a Meetup Group, searching for a Group, or checking out Groups near you, you may stumble upon a topic that you like and want to add it to your list of interests. To make this process a little easier and more spontaneous, there's now a Meetup icon next to topics in various places on the site. Click on it to see how many Meetup Groups worldwide are in that topic, whether one is near you or to immediately add the topic to your alert list to be notified about. So now when you're browsing the site and a topic strikes your fancy, just add it to your lists of interests and continue on with what you were doing! ![]() Other changes this week:

Please tell us that the ability to "preview" drafts for calendars is on the hot list of items to be addressed soon. |

supercool, I specially love the new optimized code so google finds us, and the import contact feature
don´t care about the icon that helps people find OTHER meetups, right there on the face of my meetup homepage - I work hard to get people visit my homepage and join my group, this helps them find others and go away. Could have lived without this feature my best guess is that very few will use that thing Edited by Nestor on May 27, 2009 12:17 AM |

Hmmm... my contacts from everywhere already know about Meetup. Where do ya think I got em?
![]() That's a good idea that a lot of people will use, though. And Yay! for bug fixes, as usual. And Nestor, that new icon won't just help your members find other groups, but help members of other groups find your group, too! |

What about the ability to filter our groups on our meetup home page. I'm not active in most of them, so I'd like to be able to filter or at least alphabetize them.

BUG REPORT:
using IE 6, post release- photo section- photo is very large (which I actually like) photo is over the left all sizes/etc options no forward/back arrow no way to move off the first photo in the album http://www.meetup.com... also noted: with this browser, as of today, I longer longer have any bold/italic/insert pic/link to options on the add a reply. KarenL don't blame me for the browser, I'm at work. All these things worked here yesterday. Edited by KarenL on May 27, 2009 11:33 AM |

Hi guys,
Friendly reminder: Let's keep the forums on topic. This forum is to talk about the new features announced and any bugs that may unintentionally arise as a result of said new features. If you have feature suggestions please post them in the Suggestions forum. The staff at HQ reads every forum, not just this one! ![]() Thanks! |

The topic links don't work on my Firefox 3/XP. All I get is a big colored popup (not the same shape/color as the intended popup.) (They do work using the IEtab/Internet Explorer.)
