So what s the skinny here? This particular request has been asked for God knows how long!!! Its getting a little annoying that this is one of the OLDEST request, yet not getting worked on.

Well, some of us, as AO's are actually the only ones posting events. Our organizer has been MIA for over a year. I have been planning the lions share of the events and another AO has planned a few as well.

Hi Guys,

Been away for a very long time. I was just reading your post and wanted to offer a small thought.

First, Kathy, well done and thank you. You are a great AO, I hope your group appreciates the work you and your fellow AO do on their behalf. In your case, there is certainly no need for a limiting of permissions.

Some organizers, while they feel the need for an AO in their group, might also feel the need to limit the AO's power because as has been said before here, there isn't a lot AO can't do. I think the best advice I can give you is to know what you're getting into with your AO. AO is a position of trust, so it's key that both you as the organizer and the AO know what the limits are. If you have to limit their powers after the fact, you may already be in the place where you should sit down and have a chat with your AO.

Hope that helps,
Fola

Sorry but trust is not a replacement for security. This is a security issue that needed to be addressed a long time ago.

I always assumed Orgs wouldn't make another person an AO unless they knew them and had a certain level of trust in them, at least I certainly wouldn't.

Sure, maybe this is a "nice to have" feature, but I'd rather see meetup's resources be spent developing features that are needed more than something that can be alleviated by only selecting people you trust to be AOs.

Hey Erich,

I'm happy to say, it's being worked on! biggrin

It's in the very early stage, but it is being tackled.

How is this a security issue? I can understand Meetup putting limits on AO's powers in that AO's are only allowed to edit their own events.

But if the ORG doesn't trust an AO, why make him/her an AO, in the first place?

You can trust a boyfriend/husband with all your heart, and still have them cheat on you.

I can know and trust my AO's, and still one day they might for whatever reason decide to delete all my members, send out horrible e-mails, destroy events, etc.

I can't wait for this feature to come out. Personally, I don't need my AO's to be able to do anything except organize events.

Just a question to anyone on this thread, perhaps put this in the suggestions thread, what would you like to see this limiting of powers do? All or nothing or a line veto?

thanks Meetup for working on it.

It's been there for years.
Its been debated to death. Organisers have discussed exactly what is wanted and pretty much decided it has to be completely configurable on a case-by-case basis as there is no clear consensus on the requirements. Meetup has even told us they are working on it.

Now its just a case of waiting for it to finally happen. Its a big job, and one that needs doing properly if it is to work properly. I have faith that the intention to do it properly was there at the time the project was started.
