Hey all,
As we mentioned, we recently stopped restricting our launches to Tuesday mornings. True to our word, we just pushed a release live a few minutes ago. In this, we pushed a handful of bugs and minor enhancements. But also, we launched a new feature we are excited about. Tag people in photos Group members can now identify people in their Meetup photos and "tag" them. This means that when a group member views a group photo with people in it, they'll hopefully identify the people in the photo and put names to faces. Other online-only social networks have similar functionality, but we think that due to our focus on real world face-to-face interaction, this functionality is even more powerful here on Meetup. What better way is there to see who goes to the Meetups and to tie together the online and offline? You can find this feature by looking at any photo in your Photos section, and clicking on the "Tag this photo" link to the right of the photos. This feature is limited to group members. Those tagged will get an email notification telling them they have been tagged. And of course, they will be able to untag themselves if they desire. ![]() Hope you all have fun with it! Great, easy to use feature. I like it... but I am an assistant organizer and I was going through and tagging our last few meetings like a madman.... suddenly I get an email from the organizer saying "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!??"
Aparently the organizer gets an email EVERY TIME I tag a photo... in essance he was getting spammed over and over when I was tagging these photos. is there a way to turn that option off in an organizer wants the notification off? |

or make a preference for all users to choose NOT to be tagged. (it would just not let the tag be set for them in the menu of members)

aparently it emails the person being tagged...
AND... it emails the person who uploaded the photo (if it was not the same person who tagged it) |

Regarding Photo Comments and Tags ...
Group ORGANIZERS should also have the OPTION to - subscribed or unsubscribed - to get email alerts when members upload, tag and/or comment on ALL photos uploaded to their group ... IMHO. Greeting are between two individuals ... and therefore not in the Organizers sphere of "control/business/interest/whatever However, PHOTOS/TAGS/COMMENTS posted on MY group (mine in the sense that I Organize AND pay for the site) ARE my business, and as Organizer I should be notified about them ... in addition to being able to edit/moderate them, if need be. Thanks, ~Pamela~ |

Tagging frequently hangs MSIE7 on XP SP3, (Multiple installations & ISPs) so far not had ther same issue with Firefox or Chrome.
Would also have liked the ability to modify the hotspot area, and drah a misplaced hotspot, as many competing sites allow. Otherwise. It mostly sort of works - ish. Darkening the whole photo can make it hard to work with on some images, darkening the whole window; why? Len |

Definitely like this tagging feature. However is there a way to set up your photos so the the most recently updated album is always the first one you see when you enter the photos section? Our group doesnt make a new album very often, but we do add pic to the existing ones frequently, however currently we have to search back thru the albums to find the most recently updated one. I like your ability to toggle from "newly created" to "recently updated" when looking at all the albums, just give me the ability to make it "stick" when i place it in "recently updated" so when members enter the photos section, the first album they see is the most recently updated. Thanks again for all the work you guys do to make meetup so cool

Firefox2 under Linux has formatting issues.
Reported by member. I know the member could have reported this themselves, but my members unfortunately make the assuption that I have some control over the interface, so report to me. (One reason I may appear vocal is that I am their voice.) Len |
