Hello everyone,

In an effort to better show what members have been up to in their Meetup Groups, we created a Latest Activity feed for the Group Member Profile page.

The Latest Activity feed will help potential members get more information about who is in a Meetup Group and what the group is about, making them more likely to join!

The Latest Activity feed on a Group Member Profile page only shows public information about the member who's profile you are looking at related to a specific group. A member's Latest Activity feed includes:

  • When the member joins the Meetup Group
  • Greetings (posted and received)
  • Starting or replying to a Message board thread
  • Photo uploads, comments and tags
  • Comments about Meetup events

The Latest Activity feed is not showing any RSVP information.

If you don't want your Latest Activity to be public, you can go to your Group Member Profile and click "Hide latest activity." Hiding your Latest Activity on your Group Member Profile means only you will be able to view it. Hiding/showing latest activity is on a group by group basis.

We've also made it easier to post greetings to members from their group profiles by putting a "Post a greeting" box above the Latest Activity feed.

Thanks,
Mark at Meetup

Thank you for giving us the option to hide it. I personally do not wish to have my activities splashed all over the MU site. Now give us the same option to hide our activities from other Members in the "Whats Happening" feed on the Personal Home Pages.

Thank you.

All this effort for something we don't want. When i'm considering joining a group, i look at the EVENTS, not the members. Ever.
At least this time we have the option to hide it, even if i do have to trawl through every one of my group profiles to do so.

Joy. sad More useless feeds.sad

Thanks crying At least there's a switch on this one. A similar switch on the "What's Happening" feed would be welcome.

I read this thread and Popular Suggestions (v4) (Edited by emeline on Nov 4, 2009 7:24 AM) and didn't come across it anywhere. Perhaps my reading skills have deteriorated, would someone please show me anything on the board asking for this new feed or try to explain how the new feed satisfies any of the requests on the list?

According to Emeline, these are the things we members have been asking for, and I think it covers it well. Obviously, someone listens. Why add another feed? crying No one asked for it.

I found a bug. Under my feed for one of my groups, it shows my reply to a discussion, except that discussion was deleted long ago. As in, back in September.

I hid my activity, anyway ;-)

I agree!!!

As an Organizer of multiples groups, I'm looking for a better and easy way to "copy" events and pictures between them!

Amy - deleted discussions should disappear from the feed. Could you email me directly and indicate which group profile and specific discussion you're referring to?

Just to clarify, the Popular Suggestion v4 thread changes regularly because we have launched many suggestions already, and others are in the works. Please bare in mind that we also receive requests via private email, phones, etc., that convey overall struggles that Organizers face, such as uncovering all the wonderful activity happening in your Meetup Group! I'm sorry if this doesn't address any of the requests you were personally hoping for, but stay tuned, because there is always more to come!

I just noticed this yesterday, most excellent! Although I kind of wish that I could see what people RSVPed for (in public groups, respecting the private groups). At least what they RSVPed to in my group!
