I uploaded my you tube video on my about page but is there a way for it to auto start when someone goes to the page. Right now, you have to click on it to play it.

Check out this page for more info. Look for the section on the page where he says the following:

"Next you need to modify the video source URL in the code by adding '&autoplay =1' to the end of the URL..."

Remove the space between "&autoplay" and "=1" (I had to put the space for the command to show up here in my message).

Let us know if it works!

Hi Jamie,

Apparently there is a glitch that requires a small adjustment on Meetup.com when using autoplay for youtube videos.

I read about this in this thread posted by Mindy:

I found out that what I said earlier about the string to attach to the end of the YouTube link doesn't work. It keeps toggling on and off. I don't know why.

But the good news is that I figured out that if you take off the first part, it works 100% better. So add ;autoplay=1 to the end of the string (instead of &autoplay=1). You can see how it works on the Chicago Hipmama page.

So the code Lana gave you was right, but you just have to remove the "&" character.

The code looks like this:

http://youryoutubelin...;autoplay=1

Replace "youryoutubelink" by your actual youtube link (http://etc......)

Try that now and let us know if it works for you.

I tried it on my own Meetup About page Youtube videos and it works!

Great!

I am super happy that it works for both of you, Jamie & Lana.

I had remembered when they first introduced youtube videos on Meetup that there was a problem with the autoplay feature. Just had to search for the discussion. Glad I found it.

Enjoy,

That's great, ~Pamela~!

I'm happy to hear you found that info useful and want to share it with your Organizer Groups.
That's a great idea! And I should share that info with my own Area 51 Org Group as well...thanks for thinking of that.

And if you want your video to loop (play over and over again automatically), just add "&loop=1" after your ";autoplay=1", so it looks like this: "http://...... ;autoplay=1&loop=1"
