David Blackmon will be presenting on his interesting work using IronRuby to drive AutoCad. Hopefully one or more members who attended RubyConf 2009 in San Francisco will give a report on the things they learned and presentations they found most interesting.

There are a couple pre-revenue startups hiring and at least one of them will be in attendance at tomorrow's Ruby meetup in Boca and will have a chance to present their opportunity. There is also a small startup who is looking to change direction and needs a bit of a "barnraising" -- a weekend coding sprint to get them re-started. I believe the owner would compensate a small team to come in and knock out whatever can be done in a couple days. It would be fun and you might learn a lot! I will happily provide the space, computers and even lead the exercise if desired. We are working on a program for the meetup. Please RSVP.

We have a full session lined up for our Meetup tomorrow night. 7-8: Introductory topics 8-10: Advanced discussion / hands on help We have received feedback that some of the material presented at our recent meetups is too advanced in nature for people who are new to Ruby and Rails. Going forward we will try to devote the first hour from 7-8 to introductory topics. This is a great chance for some of our members to talk about something easier which might be of interest to newcomers. Please arrive promptly at 7 so we can get started. Pizza will be available during the first hour so don't skip that part! Bring your stories, questions, demos, rants on anything Ruby/Web/Dynamic Language/Programming -related.

We have a full session lined up for our Meetup tomorrow night. 7-8: Introductory topics 8-9: Demo of Ezcomet / discussion 9-10: Advanced discussion / hands on help We have received feedback that some of the material presented at our recent meetups is too advanced in nature for people who are new to Ruby and Rails. Going forward we will try to devote the first hour from 7-8 to introductory topics. This is a great chance for some of our members to talk about something easier which might be of interest to newcomers. To get us started, Rich has volunteered to do an introductory session. Please arrive promptly at 7 so we can get started. Pizza will be available during the first hour so don't skip that part! At 8pm we will have a special guest, my friend, Tom Craige who is going to talk to us about a new service he is testing and about to launch to make it easier for developers to deploy push messaging to the browser (often referred to as "comet") -- it is presently in alpha and Tom looking for our feedback. He has some interesting EC2 auto-scaling features which I am keen to understand. Bring your stories, questions, demos, rants on anything Ruby/Web/Dynamic Language/Programming -related.
