Our first Geek Bonfire was such a blast we decided to do it again. Join us if you're an IT manager, programmer, science fiction fan, comics fan, gamer, social networking addict, Twitter or Facebook enthusiast, Internet marketer -- if you participate in any activity that most people think as geeky, or if you like hanging out with people who do those things. We'll enjoy soft drinks and conversation until the fire goes out.

The bonfire area is on the south side of the park. Head north on East Mission Bay Drive past the Hilton, make the first left turn you can, follow the driveways south between parking lots (that'll be your left), until you're at the far southerly parking lot. Park there. You'll see a building with an orange roof, it's public restrooms, the bonfire area is beyond that, just slightly downhill.
We hope to see all our old friends there and new friends too.

Oh, man. I'm so sorry I missed the Meetup/Fire/Geek Fest. When's the next one? Xmas fire?

I love the geek bonfire. Thanks for hosting this Mitch & Gina. I love that we had even more varied geeks, and more geeks in general, than last time. Also, Mitch, I swear next time I won't tell overly-TMI stories!

Thanks to everyone for coming out! Jason - Sorry you had a bad experience. The place is hard to find -- we'll try to get better directions posted for the next time. The fire was definitely going strong by 6:45, and we had a crowd of people there. As to the rest of your issues: Yes, we are poorly organized. We are not likely to get better organized. We like to think this is part of our Puckish charm, and makes us cute and lovable. Probably we are wrong about that.

The SD geek bonfire was really cool. It's nice to have a quieter more relaxed event than some of those other louder networking events. I took charge of the fire for a while, but now I smell like a fire pit. Good times! Glad to see all the familiar faces and get acquainted with a few new people too. The SD tech community just grew a little larger. Thanks Gina and Mitch for putting this event on. See you at the next event.

Poorly organized. Terrible directions. No communication with members. No bonfire to be seen at the location as of 6:45 pm. Did anyone find this event? Drove to the end of the park, down by the golf course and back again. No large group with a bonfire where to be found. ;-(

Dan - Great to have you. Nick - I'm on vacation now, but I'll look into that over the next few days. The GMaps link worked last time I checked. Strange.

The Google Maps link points to a place near Harbor Dr, close to downtown. But Mission Bay Park used to be near E Mission Bay Dr (turning right when exiting I5). Or are we supposed to be very geek to guess where the location is? :)

Richard - Yes, indeed - bonfire area at the park. We probably won't be able to get the exact same pit as before, but they're all a few steps away from each other.
