Cindy and Deborah will show us how to attach paper to leather (backing leather). As this product will need drying time, we're not likely to get to making the notebook, but will cover that verbally.
Please bring a metal ruler, cutting mat, xacto or knife with snap off blades, and a pencil.
We will see finished examples of the notebook and get some supplies and instructions for finishing our own notebooks at home.
They will also touch upon how to make book cloth, but again, since there's not enough time, participants won't be able to make book cloth that evening.
We might have another room in the same library - please ask at the front desk.
---------- location and parking as usual -------------------------
Google map does not allow me to set a pin where the 'better' entrance is. I tried, and it got denied.
The fine arts library has two entrances, and on the map is the more difficult one. The easiest way is - standing in front of Bass Concert Hall, to the left of this is another little stairs and entrance - to the fine arts library. Go up one flight (two, if you come from the Trinity entrance) and enter the library.
Ask at the library counter for the room for Austinbookworkers. Usually we have room 4.104, but that might change they told us.
The parking situation got a lot worse - UT requires permits now, this is new. There are stillfree places on East Dean Keaton heading Eastward, where you have to reverse in, they are currently still free after 6pm on Weekdays. We will talk with UT to see if we can get permits.
