We will not just see what Suminagashi is, but also try it out ourselves. We will have 3 or 4 stations and ink so everyone has a chance to try Japanese Paper Marbling - Suminagashi - and take a few self-made sheets home.
Please bring a few small brushes. We have 6 colors a 4 stations, so we all together need 24 brushes - but we can share, as only one person can work at each station at the same time, and brushes are not endangered through false handling. A few old newspapers are good too so we can use them to lie our marbled papers on them to dry.
I will bring ink, containers and some plain paper. If you want to try some special paper feel free to bring some sheets - letter sized. (No cardboard, no dark colors).
Google map does not allow me to set a pin where the 'better' entrance is. I tried, and it got denied.
The fine arts library has two entrances, and on the map is the more difficult one. The easiest way is - standing in front of Bass Concert Hall, to the left of this is another little stairs and entrance - to the fine arts library. Go up one flight (two, if you come from the Trinity entrance) and enter the library.
Ask at the library counter for the room for Austinbookworkers. Usually we have room 4.104, but that might change they told us.
The parking situation got a lot worse - UT requires permits now, this is new. There are stillfree places on East Dean Keaton heading Eastward, where you have to reverse in, they are currently still free after 6pm on Weekdays. We will talk with UT to see if we can get permits.
I've updated this Meetup. For more details, see the full listing or below:
