Just wanted to let everyone know that I posted 2 new meetups. One for November (Atlas Shrugged) and one for December (The Brief Wonderous Life of Oscar Wao). My copy of Atlas Shrugged is almost 1,200 pages, so if you are a slow reader like me, you might want to get a jump start on that.
In December, we are planning to have a holiday potluck in conjunction with our Oscar Wao meetup. The location is TBA. Also, we will be choosing the books for January-March and we would love everyone's input.
Please feel free to write or call with any questions, suggestions, etc. [masked])
See you in a couple of weeks when Beth will lead our discussion over Vanishing Acts.
"Cover to Cover" is an Omaha Metropolitan area reading group established in 2008. Our group hosts (2) forums for book discussions.
Forum (1) "Cover to Cover" is designed for discussions of a single work selected by attendees from the previous book discussion. The selection is usually a popular culture work or a classic; the group historically meets for 1 hour on the last Sunday of each month and alternates between fiction and non-fiction. Forum (2) "Syntopical" is designed for discussions of multiple works in the nature of Mortimer Adler's Level 4 syntopical reading. The selections are centralized and influenced by a cohort. Attendees are encouraged to draw on a personal history of reading experiences and knowledge to form comparisons and contrasts to the works selected for analysis. The group meets for 1 1/2 hours every two months.
Each meet-up is enjoyable and provides a rare opportunity to share insights, and we always look forward to meeting new readers.
