Sunday at Freebird Books--party from 2 to 5, reading at 7 pm

All day festivities at Freebird: from 2 to 5 pm a launch party for Novel-T (with proceeds from t-shirt sales going to 826NYC) and then a reading with Dirk Wittenborn (Pharmakon) at 7 pm.

Sunday, September 20, 2-5 pm

The ballpark's coming to the bookstore on September 20th!

Join Novel-T (http://www.novel-t.com/) for a barbecue launch party out on the deck from 2pm-5pm to debut the first "team" of their jersey-style literary t-shirts.

Jerseys are a great way to show support for your heroes--if your heroes happen to be athletes.
But what if your heroes are found in the bookstore instead of the ballpark?
What if books are your game?

Novel-T offers an opportunity to express your support for the all-stars of literature. For those who feel a connection to certain writers or characters--be it Walt Whitman's expansive exultations, Huck Finn's mischievous morality, or Bartleby's inscrutable insubordination--these super-soft, jersey-style tees are the way to "wear your read."

The first ?team? of nine players, representing a selection of writers and characters from the American literary canon, will take the field for the first time at the official Novel-T launch on[masked] at Freebird Books in Brooklyn. New teams, featuring an increasing roster of domestic and foreign players, will join the Novel-T Word Series league shortly.

To help ensure that there will always be new names to add to the Novel-T line-up, Novel-T donates $1 of the purchase price of each shirt to 826NYC, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills.Rain or shine.More info at http://novel-t.com/launch.htm

Dirk Wittenborn reads from his recent novel PHARMAKON? or The Story of a Happy Family

?What?s best about ?Pharmakon,? beyond the curiosity value of its unusual premise and atmosphere, is Mr. Wittenborn?s colorful, affectionate evocation of a complex family story ?a smart, eccentric coming-of-age story.?
?The New York Times

Dirk Wittenborn is the Emmy-nominated producer of the HBO documentary Born Rich. The Lucky Ones, a movie starring Rachel McAdams and Tim Robbins, which Wittenborn co-wrote and co-produced, was released last fall. His two previous novels, Zoe and Fierce People, have been published in more than a dozen countries. He lives in New York City.
