The Innocent - Harlan Coben

You never meant to kill him….

One night, Matt Hunter innocently tried to break up a fight—and ended up a killer. Now, nine years later, he’s an ex-con who takes nothing for granted. His wife, Olivia, is pregnant, and the two of them are closing on their dream house. But all it will take is one shocking, inexplicable call from Olivia’s phone to shatter Matt’s life a second
time….

An electrifying thrill ride of a novel that peeks behind the white picket fences of suburbia, The Innocent is at once a twisting, turning, emotionally charged story and a compelling tale of the choices we make and the repercussions that never leave.

I gave, 'The Innocent', a B+. I think Coben is a master at creating very real scenarios where his characters are between the proverbial,' rock and a hard place'. I always have to ask myself, "What would YOU have done?" Discussion was great as usual!

Sorry that I will have to miss the Sept. meeting but not sorry that I will be traveling in Europe. See you in Oct.!

I liked the book. It was a twisty, entertaining, fast-paced read.
    Discussion was great.

I really liked the book. I think I've only read one other of his books so I don't have much to compare it to. I found it to be a page turner. Wish I could have joined you to hear your ideas.

I agree... maybe not Coben's best book, but great discussion of it!

Turns out I'm having foot surgery, so can't come. The book is very good, wish I could be there for the discussion. Maybe next month.

Hi, I'm more than half way through reading the book but I just found out I have to work on Monday. The earliest I could be there is 6:30 and you'd be almost finished by then. Would anyone be interested in making the meetings in the future a little later? I'd really love to be there.

I can do any night as long as I don't have to work. When I work I don't get out until 6:30 so I wouldn't be able to make any night except Friday, Sat or Sun.

I have to work late Mondays, until 9:15. Would anyone be willing to meet another night to discuss the book? Tuesday and Thursday work best for me. This wouldn't be instead of the usual Monday but in addition to. I really enjoy hearing other's viewpoints on books but there's no way I can meet on Mondays this semester due to teaching night class. Maybe an online meeting program, like Skype we could meet to discuss the book in the comfort of our homes? Happy reading everyone!!
