At the last book club meeting, someone mentioned an interest in Atwood's take on religion. Well, YouTube provided. (NOTE: The audio will not work unless you manually set the video resolution at 240p.)

That was really fascinating to see after reading the book. Thanks for sharing. I found it interesting she claimed atheism was a dogmatic religion (pt 2, 7:50). At times I feel that way with some people I talk to, but still, I don't think we are just the flip side of extreme religion. The idea of atheism lies in reason and proof and is structured so that it can be proven wrong. Religion has not structure to be proven wrong. Am I wrong in my reasoning? smile

What reason is there then?

For that matter some religion may be shown to be wrong.

But, for that matter, by showing some structure to be wrong must we not create a structure? A structure that must be shown to be right or wrong. But showing has its limits... with what faith exactly does that new structure stand or stand to have any meaning for that matter?

Just another fearful assertion maybe..

Religion (dogma) may be the nature of a fearful man.. even atheists.

Fin? ;)
