October - World Book #10 - Beyond the Sky and Earth, by Jamie Zeppa

Very few people have ever, or will ever go to the small, mountainous nation of Bhutan.  Because of that, I thought it would be interested to read a firsthand account by a woman who gave up the modern comforts of her life to experience it!

I realize this book has limited copies at the local libraries, but as it is available in cheap paperback, and in e-book format, I am announcing it a couple of months out to hopefully allow people the opportunity to find it.  Thanks!

*********************

Jamie Zeppa was 24 when she left a stagnant life at home and signed a contract to teach for two years in the Buddhist hermit kingdom of Bhutan. Much more than just a travel memoir, Beyond the Sky and the Earth is the story of her time in a Himalayan village, immersed in Bhutanese culture and the wonders of new and lasting love. Whether you're travelling to Bhutan, looking for the best travel writing around, or wishing to be transported to a culture, mindset, and spiritual ethos wonderfully different from your own, Beyond the Sky and the Earth is a joyous and lush memoir that will transform the way you think of faith, Western life, and love.

    Hello all,

I am excited and nervous about this, my first "meetup". I just downloaded the book and even though I am a pretty fast reader, I tend to doubt I will be finished reading the book. I hope that is OK.

Don't worry about it if you don't finish! You're welcome to come anyway.

I'm also enjoying this book. Of all the non-fiction we've read, this one seems like the most genuine!
