Author Night with Jon Wells

  • Oct 16, 2013 · 7:15 PM
  • The Freeway Coffee House

Jon Wells joins us to talk about his new release Death's Shadow

Wells take readers up close into multiple homicide investigations, the agony of victims and their loved ones, and the chilling dance of death between cold-blooded killers and the hard-boiled investigators hunting them. His research draws upon jailhouse interviews with three of the killers as well as with homicide and forensic detectives, and the stories are augmented by crime-scene photographs and portrait photography of all the players.

Amazing reporter and author Jon Wells. He has a gift that he can get people to open up to him and he tells the stories with dignity. Now I am reading Death's Shadow and having a hard time putting it down.

I enjoyed listening to Jon's enthusiasm and passion for reading and writing.

I didn't want to read this book in a way, the stories are so heartbreaking and then you discover that justice is not always served. The amount of work that goes into trying to get a conviction is staggering. It must be a very frustrating field to work within.

That these are true stories that have taken place in the area we live in makes me look at Hamilton with a new perspective and depth I did not have previous to reading Jon's book.

Would not have chosen this book to read on my own, so I am glad that it was on our list.

That was a fun meetup last night with lots of thought-provoking questions and answers. Jon is a great writer and it was very interesting to hear about the methods he uses to put together his articles and books.

Hi Karen.. I cannot make it on Wednesday. I am not sure whether Mom will have internet connectivity to update her status. If she can not make it I will post for her but cannot update. They do not have the internet at home.

Lesley, glad to hear oxygen therapy is available to you - but so sorry to hear that you need it. Take care of yourself and yes, hopefully we'll see you back soon. Happy Thanksgiving!

I miss the Book Club. Since I'm on 24-hour oxygen therapy, it's more difficult to attend meetings, events, etc. I hope I'll be able to return in the future. In the meantime I'm reading along with you and reading the postings. Happy Thanksgiving, friends. Fit in a few chapters with the turkey basting!
