The Night Circus - Debra M's suggestion

In this mesmerizing debut, a competition between two magicians becomes a star-crossed love story.

The circus arrives at night, without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within nocturnal black and white striped tents awaits a unique experience, a feast for the senses, where one can get lost in a maze of clouds, meander through a lush garden made of ice, stand awestruck as a tattooed contortionist folds herself into a small glass box, and gaze in wonderment at an illusionist performing impossible feats of magic.

Welcome to Le Cirque des Rêves. Beyond the smoke and mirrors, however, a fierce competition is underway - a contest between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood to compete in "a game," in which each must use their powers of illusion to best the other. Unbeknownst to them, this game is a duel to the death, and the circus is but the stage for a remarkable battle of imagination and will.

I was very disappointed not to be able to make to tonight's meeting. Was hit by a migraine as I was getting ready to leave home. I had really wanted to hear everyone's thoughts on this book. :(

I just finished the book and I loved this read. The author painted a truly vivid picture of the circus and the performers. This is one I will read again as it carries you away and you are lost in a sea of black and white tents and all the possibilities therein. I want Widget to create some bottle memories for me - what an awesome idea. Can't wait to hear what everyone else thought of the book. Thanks for this pic.

Read it when it first came out, would I need to re-read it?

haven't been doing so well at getting the books in time for the meeting lately, but I have already read this one! :) Erin Morgenstern has quite an imagination! Don't want to risk spoilers for others so that's all I'll say. I did enjoy it though.
