Meeting new people who love books. Discovering new books, authors and genres that I'll be interested in.
Fiction. Very, very, very occasionally an autobiography. Beyond that, I wouldn't know how to categorise what I like, but I do like discovering new authors. I don't have a strategy for finding books, except for a few favourite authors like Margaret Atwood and Ian McEwan, where I tend to pick up whatever they've just released, and recommendations from friends, who've introduced me to authors like John Irving, Paul Auster and Umberto Eco. I like classics too - Austen, Hardy, Wilkie Collins, Shakespeare, Virgina Woolf, Fitgerald, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, James Joyce, Graham Greene, Henry James, Aldous Huxley, Ray Bradbury, Philip K Dick, Somerset Maugham, Oscar Wilde, Jack Kerouac, Isabel Allende, Rushdie, Toni Morrison. The Pat Barker Regeneration trilogy I love. I used to make a point of reading classics regularly but less so since being bored to death by Les Miserables. Don't know what else to say. I like a gripping story and black humour, sometimes with a bit of magical realism.
Not sure what is useful to tell you - Michelle, age 37. I've always loved books and reading.
