And now.... Mr. Alan Moore

It's been a strange anomaly that in two years of book club meetings we've never featured a work by Alan Moore, who many consider to be the premiere comics writer of our times - probably because most of his books are either too long or too well known. Well, that's about to change. We're going to read one of the early graphic novels by the British master that even his fans may be less familiar with - a tight, but potent graphic novel under the title of A Small Killing.

Working with the serene paintings of Oscar Zarate, Moore calls A Small Killing, "One of the best pieces of comic book art that I have ever been involved in." Adman Timothy Hole has everything going for him and has now been handed the biggest assignment of his life, marketing a major cola in Russia. But his smooth life begins to unravel as he is stalked by a demonic child that makes him question not just who he is, but how he really effects those around him. It is about the little murders that we all have to make each day just to get by. The trace assassinations of tiny things. Really, how much damage can be done by a small killing?

The book is dense, emotionally impactful and formally daring. It's relatively short and inexpensive. New member Ariel will run the discussion and she's very passionate about comics, so we'll have a great meeting. Grab a copy and join us on October 12th.
