  • Feb 17, 2013 · 2:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

The location of this meetup will be Espresso Roma on Hopkins St in Berkeley. For this meetup we will be discussing the last 3 chapters (chapters 8, 9, and 10) of The Better Angels of Our Nature, by Steven Pinker. We can also share thoughts & ideas about various other books we have read in the field of cognitive science and other related disciplines (such as evolutionary psychology or neuroscience). I look forward to meeting and discussing cognitive science with you!

I am still intrigued how you all met up - I was there from 2-3 - walking table to table and staring at all the hats, not just straw hats:)

Hello Priya. I apologize for not mentioning in the announcement that my hat got stolen. Actually, it was in the trunk of my car when it got stolen. I hope you'll still consider attending in the future.

Sorry, Priya — I just recognize Dana and Deborah. But we did have at least three copies of Pinker's big fat book open in front of us...

Next time Dana will have gotten a new attention getting gizmo, right Dana? Maybe you could dye your hair green?

Getting there late I missed the first half but it was an interesting discussion.

Noticed Dobson's "Dictator's Learning Curve" in studying our recent text. Wonder if that could fit our area of interest....

Just bought a copy, plus at least the section on "the myth of pure evil" deals directly with what I'm studying right now. Just finished Hannah Arendt's "Eichmann in Jerusalem".
