A Not-So Hardcore, Deep and Funny Bookish (Not Book) Club Pages

This is the Not-So-Hardcore, Deep and Funny Bookish Club

This is not a book club.
It is a club for people who read.

The group is meant to be a friendly discussion meeting where readers. writers, creative thinkers can come together to share, discuss, and debate ideas deeply, superficially, with intent, with scepticism, with humor, with passion, with courtesy. Creativity comes in many forms. It is not limited to writers, artists, musicians. It is a gift shared by scientists, engineers and researchers. Anyone who solves any kind of problem is creative. It is a universal human trait. How we use it may differ, but everyone has the capacity to be creative.

Let's examine the gap between the artist and the scientist; between the right and the left brain and find points of agreement and camaderie. Two quotes that describe this search are by Jacob Bronowski:

"The world today is made, it is powered by science; and for any man to abdicate an interest in science is to walk with open eyes towards slavery"

" cannot have a man handle paints or language or the symbolic concepts of physics, you cannot even have him stain a microscopic slide, without instantly waking in him a pleasure in the very language, a sense of exploring his own activity. This sense lies at the heart of creation."

Science and Human Values, 1956

This may sound very serious, but it's only a small part of a bigger conversation. We hope everyone will bring books, topics, ideas, bizarre dreams and/or government regulations as jumping off points for freewheeling, wide ranging, hair-raising, "I-can't-believe-you said-that", nonlinear discussions. All in all, this group is about fun, intellectual discussion, exploration, understanding and , worth repeating, fun.

The more people who come and participate, the more fun and stimulating the conversations will be. We need you to make the experience better, so please join us.

MEMBERS WHO SEND INCENDIARY EMAILS TO OTHER MEMBERS WILL BE GIVEN ONE WARNING AND THEN WILL BE BLOCKED IF ANOTHER EMAIL IS SENT. If you disagree with a topic or the views of another member, the entire group does not need to hear about it.
