Announcing a new Meetup for 20ish & 30ish Boston Book Club!What
: Cambridge Readers: Room by Emma DonoghueWhen
: Wednesday, November 10,[masked]:00 PMWhere
: (A location has not been chosen yet.)
There was just about a three way tie in the voting for the November book with The God of Small Things and No One Belongs Here More Than You both getting significant support. The winner, though, is going to be Room by Emma Donoghue. Like so many of our recent books, this is contemporary fiction (I promise some switching up on that front soon), but unlike any recent books, it's so new that it isn't yet available in paperback. Definitely give me some feedback on how much of a hassle the higher cost is if you're buying, or if the availability at the library is lower if you're borrowing. I actually bought the book the other day at the airport and read the entire thing on the flight back here from Albuquerque; it's a pretty short book and totally riveting at times . . . but as interesting as it is, there's a lot to dislike about it, too, and I think it is going to be excellent book chat fodder.
Like recent meetings, we'll try this one in a location to be determined, but definitely in Cambridge and convenient to parking and the T.AmazonPowell'sNY Times book review
