Cambridge Readers: New things are afoot!
So it with a heavy heart that I am forced to say good-bye to the monthly trips up 93 for great conversation and book discussion. After 2 and 1/2 years, my job is putting the ixnay on weekday roadtrips and I am forced to hand over the reins to a new, noble, and incredibly adept leader, Nick.
For any who have attended the book club in 2010, you have probably been wowed by Nick's natural charisma, leadership capabilities and discussion leading. Even when not designated the leader, he clearly manned the job perfectly. Oh so kindly, he has offered to step up to the plate to keep us reading consistently in our humble Cambridge setting. You, faithful readers, need do nothing at the moment, other than read away and plan to look for his smiling face at future meetups. Additionally, I would beg your patience and understanding and even enthusiasm, as he learns the ropes and understandibly makes some potential changes in "the way things are done around here" :-). Please give him your full support and encouragement as there may be experimentation in where meetups are held (I think we're all getting a little wary of the crowd potential of the CCC), when meetups are held, and the way books are chosen.
I'll be heading up for "Olive" in April and hope to see as many of you there as I can, but am so excited and thrilled that meetings will continue (despite my regretful absence) and that the Cambridge readers will live on!! It's been a blast meeting with you guys for the past 2 and 1/2 years and I hope that I'll be able to pop in on occasion for many years to come.
Thanks for being so much fun and making the road trip worth it every time :-)
See ya in April :-)
