Hello,
I am on the fence about coming for two reasons. 1) Despite her good efforts, Mary was going to be my ride, but the fates intervened and stranded her on a business trip. 2) That book was not available on audiotape, or downloadable, so I looked at the pretty pictures and skipped the words.
Mary suggested that before I totally give up I ask for a ride from someone that might be leaving from Downtown or cruising through uptown. So, anybody going that way on their way to Rosedale? the return bus will be easier, but I might have to leave a little early as it stops before 9.
Despite all this whining, I really want to participate in this book club. I would have probably loved the book if I had read it. I heard Pavord on the radio and she sounded like she could make someone craaaZy about Tulips.

The book sounded interesting to me, and I will be buying it in due course to see what all the fuss is about...  (I loved Tulip Fever by Deborah Moggach, and Earthly Joys by Philippa Gregory, on the same subject).  But I am afraid I am not free tonight, and in fact Tuesdays are not very good generally, but I will try to come to the next meeting if possible.

Quick note about tonight's meeting,

Heard, and hold the same opinion, that the book was not an easy read (thanks Lynn for your honest opinion). But, this will happen in a book club, no matter how we pick books. It sounded interesting to me when picked. So we tear it apart tonight and then pick the Oct book. A book club is not about reading (we can do that on our own) but interacting and maybe experiencing a book we would not have picked ourselves.

So, invitation is out there to attend whether you have or have not read it. We are still forming, so come if you would still like too.

Happy reading.......see whoever tonight
