Continuing with our "Odd Duck Summer," we're moving on to something brand new for our group: the graphic novel. Call it what you will--comic, illustrated text--this presentation of literature has grown bolder and become much more widely read in recent years, with authors and artists using the medium in startling, refreshing ways to tell stories from yet another angle.
This month we will be tackling a classic made new: Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451: The Authorized Adaptation, adapted and illustrated by Tim Hamilton. Hamilton preserves the majority of the text and the spirit of the original dystopian novel while adding layers of depth and emotion through the color, form, space, and movement of his panels. Included in the paperback volume is an original foreword by Ray Bradbury, who fully condoned and cooperated with this project. Find out more about it here.
Familiarity with or prior reading of the original novel is not necessary.
