Discussion of "Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451" Graphic Novelization

Continuing with our "Odd Duck Summer," we're moving on to something brand new for our group: the graphic novel. Call it what you will--comic, illustrated text--this presentation of literature has grown bolder and become much more widely read in recent years, with authors and artists using the medium in startling, refreshing ways to tell stories from yet another angle.

This month we will be tackling a classic made new: Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451: The Authorized Adaptation, adapted and illustrated by Tim Hamilton. Hamilton preserves the majority of the text and the spirit of the original dystopian novel while adding layers of depth and emotion through the color, form, space, and movement of his panels. Included in the paperback volume is an original foreword by Ray Bradbury, who fully condoned and cooperated with this project. Find out more about it here.

Familiarity with or prior reading of the original novel is not necessary.

Hope you can join us!

Sorry to leave the meeting so early! I'm marathon training and this morning I didn't run because I wasn't feeling well (allergies are kicking my butt). I wanted to stop into the meeting to at least say hello and hear part of the discussion before running off to run!

I'm almost done Fahrenheit 451. It's been years since I last read it. I had to join when I saw Something Wicked This Way Comes on the slate. I will see you on the 18th.

Hey everyone- I bought the book then found out that I can't make the meeting. Does anyone want my copy? I bought it super cheap and I'd be willing to give it to you for free.
