It seemed the universal reaction to this book was curiosity about the culture of the people in Nigeria and less interest in what happened after the colonists resigned. Perhaps there would have been more interest in the book if it has been about life in Okwono's father's or grandfather's time rather than his own.

It was an interesting book naetheless, and I admit to some curiosity about the other books Achebe has written. But with so many other books on my list, I'm not sure I'll get back to reading his works anytime soon.
