Discuss books on Train Journeys

Trains have always fascinated us. A passing train makes us stand and stare even in these days of cheap air travel!

Before James Watt introduced his steam engine in 1763,  journeys by road were tedious, uncertain and open to attack by dacoits and highwaymen and uncertain. There were even petrol run trains and then finally came the electric train.

What is interesting the destination or the train journey itself ?

Books abound on train journeys such as

The Christmas Train - David Baldacci

The Great Railway Bazaar & The Old Patagonian express- Paul Theroux

Around India in 80 Trains - Monisha Rajesh

Steam from Kenya to Cape- E Talbot.

What is it with Trains and Suspense writers ? how can one forget books like

Murder on the Orient Express

Stamboul Train- Graham Greene

Stranger On a Train- Patricia Highsmith

Necropolis Train- Andrew Martin

My all time favorite is Anita Nair's Ladies Coupe- experiences of 4 women in a Coupe and how they get talking and how each one's story unfolds.

You may have many more books to talk about.

Hope to see you there!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
