Knowledge is not simply another commodity. On the contrary. Knowledge is never used up. It increases by diffusion and grows by dispersion. --Daniel J. Boorstin

Welcome to Books to Get You Talking, a reading group dedicating to exploring and discussing the world around us through the people who write about it. This group's focus is (for the most part) on memoir and non-fiction books, on topics from religion to politics to foreign culture, with a strong emphasis on understanding as an impetus for social change. How can you change something if you don't know that anything's wrong? The members of Books to Get You Talking don't believe you can. Through the books we read in this group, Books to Get You Talking hopes to increase our awareness and awe of our world and the people in it, and in so doing, increase the awareness and awe of our world in others by jamming down their throats the importance of every new thing that we learn. Or something like that.
