Compassionate Living Workshop

Life keeps getting faster and more stressful. We are all pressed to make faster and faster decisions. This workshop teaches techniques that can improve the quality of our decisions and help us stay calm in today’s tense “Modern Living.”

Imagine being able to recognize when you are tense -- then do a simple exercise that brings you back to your calm and centered state. Imagine being able to express yourself in a manner that makes it more likely to achieve your goals and meet the mutual needs.

Here is some of what we will learn:
• Being in touch with the body's relaxed (centered) state.

• Recognize when you are tense.

• Learn techniques to center yourself in a tense situation.

• Show you how to balance your thoughts.

• Help you find out how you come across when you talk.

• Show you how to be a better listener.

• Teach you how to speak with Compassion.

• Get you on your way towards being a calm Self Master.

Bring a writing pad, pencils, water bottle, a seat cushion, or other personal comfort items, as needed. The library has also vending machines for beverages and snacks. (Make sure to bring a few single Dollars or coins, as the vending machines do no accept large bills.)

Due to the nature of this workshop, the doors will close promptly at 1:15pm. Please come for the full duration of the workshop, which ends at 5pm.

This workshop is free of charge. It is offered altruistically as our way of giving back what we have learned.

NOTE:

Google, Yahoo, and Mapquest, (and probably others) say that from Island Crest Way, to take a left at SE 44th. A recent traffic change prevents you from doing this! (Google has a cool street level feature that actually shows this!) So, from Island Crest Way, either…

Take a left at SE 40th/Freeman Ave., then
Take a right at 86th Ave SE, then
Take a left at SE 44th St, then
Take a right at 88th Ave SE. The library is on your left.

-OR-

Continue past SE 44th St, (about 2 blocks) then
Take a SHARP left (almost a U-turn) onto 86th Ave SE, then
Take a right at SE 44th St, then
Take a right at 88th Ave SE. The library is on your left.

So who is offering this presentation? And about "seat cushions"... sitting on the floor does not suit my back well and is something I can't really do anymore. That ended long ago, in my hippie days.
