Good morning everyone,
I have been doing a little bit of research about this event because initially there was very little information.
Recently I contacted the organizer of this event and received the following additional information. See below.
We're still lining out a few things for Sunday Family Events on April 28 from noon - 5 pm.
The grandest thing to see is the free Birds of Prey show with live birds. There are two shows at 1 pm & 3 pm. You can shop around in the "Market Place"and grab something to eat.
You can go to www.balconessongbirdfestival.com and look under registration if you are willing to split up. You can see that there are tours to register for with fees tied with them, but group sizes are small (around a dozen). And a couple of you may want to take Spider Joe's free spider walk (group size 15). Times aren't set yet, but may be 2 pm & 4 pm.
At your leisure, you can see and hear about live snakes, frogs, turtles, & lizards. Also, there is a .4 mile nature trail with exhibits to read.
Also I am trying to find out about the discounted nature tour that was mentioned so that we can all part take in this.
I will update you as I find information.
The Balcones Songbird Festival is an annual 4 day community event with expert birding and nature tours of the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge offers some of the best bird watching and habitat left in Texas. We'll head out on Sunday for some bird watching, music, food and camaraderie.
