Boomertime Goes to the Birds! (An Unhosted Event)

Good morning  everyone,

I have been doing a little bit of research about this event because initially there was very little information.
Recently I contacted the organizer of this event and received the following additional information. See below.

We're still lining out a few things for Sunday Family Events on April 28 from noon - 5 pm.

The grandest thing to see is the free Birds of Prey show with live birds.  There are two shows at 1 pm & 3 pm.  You can shop around in the "Market Place"and grab something to eat.

You can go to and look under registration if you are willing to split up.  You can see that there are tours to register for with fees tied with them, but group sizes are small (around a dozen).  And a couple of you may want to take Spider Joe's free spider walk (group size 15).  Times aren't set yet, but may be 2 pm & 4 pm.

At your leisure, you can see and hear about live snakes, frogs, turtles, & lizards.  Also, there is a .4 mile nature trail with exhibits to read.

Also I am trying to find out about the discounted nature tour that was mentioned so that we can all part take in this.

I will update you as I find information.

The Balcones Songbird Festival is an annual 4 day community event with expert birding and nature tours of the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge offers some of the best bird watching and habitat left in Texas. We'll  head out on Sunday for some bird watching, music, food and camaraderie.

Does anyone have the contact info (or even just her name) for our tour guide? I know someone who wants to hire a xeriscaping expert.

I showed up at the address on the event-24518-the wildlife refuge. No one was these. It appeaes that everyone went to Doeskin Ranch-that was not mentioned in the event information.

Friends, An update. This has been a difficult event for Boomertime to find an Event Host. (We had two that dropped out for different reasons). So there is no host, but I am leaving this on our calendar as it seems like a fun event. I would think that if you want to meet up with other members, I would hang out around the entrance gate from 11 to 11:15. Perhaps you will notice one of the friendly mugs that have RSVPd for this event. Sorry for the lack of organization.

Not sure what it would involve, Melanie. But having a meeting place would be a good start.

Melanie, I think it would be better if someone else hosts this event.

OK. We have a host(s)! I don't know anything about this. I guess the first thing to do is to check with the 13th Annual Songbird Nature Festival people. Then maybe post what you find out and where to meet.
