Mirage Jazz Ensemble:
Sammy Epstein, saxes/clarinet
Aaron Lack, vibraphone (relative of the xylophone)
Utah Hamrick, acoustic bass
This "chamber jazz" group has a really interesting mix of instruments. The vibraphone is magical, and not often heard in Austin. The group will be playing mostly jazz standards (Great American songbook), and a few less well known compositions that are melodic and interesting. Sound samples at www.miragejazz.com
Daren Appelt's "Ham Jam House" is a WONDERFUL venue to listen to live music. It's a marvelous house with great acoustics.
(Plan on being a listener during the performance and not a talker, as personal conversations can be heard by others)
Suggested Donation $10 per person.
There were a lot of boomers at the Rio Novo concert...everyone enjoyed it. This event will be non-hosted (Sammy is in the group).
Doors open at 7:00 and the concert is 8:00 to 10:00.
This is a venue for LISTENERS, NOT TALKERS...Please plan on being attentive to the music. Voices can be heard throughout the house.
BYOB. Hors d'oeuvres are welcome!
Plenty of parking at Murcheson Middle School (within a block of the Ham Jam house).

A word about parking - Mia Tia Circle is a cul de sac, so it will be filled by the time most people arrive. I suggest parking on North Hills Drive (or at Murcheson Middle School) and walking to Mia Tia Circle (around the corner) and entering through the front entrance of the house. Worth the short walk - Very scenic entrance!
Here's what our host Daren Appelt says about parking :
"Parking is best on the North Hills Drive side of the house. There's even a parking lot across the street at Murcheson Middle School. Mine is the only driveway between Thorncliff and Rockledge on North Hills Drive. You can walk up the driveway and through the back yard to get in.
If you park in the Mia Tia cul-de-sac, please do not block neighbor's driveways!"
