What's great about being a boomer?

We've lived through some incredible times. And survived them.

As a boomer, how are you staying so darn young?

Fortunate that my health is excellent. Most mornings, I hike a 3.5 mile route through Hamilton Greenbelt in about an hour. Three weeks of hiking in Glacier National Park the past four summers. Logged about 153 miles in July, 2014. Docent at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. Volunteer with Friends of the Parks. We build and maintain Lakeway's beautiful network of greenbelt trails, including the aforementioned Hamilton Greenbelt. Also spend a lot of time interacting with young folks as head of my alma mater's Austin Alumni Admission Council. Do the Austin area college fairs and conduct interviews locally. Keeps me intellectually engaged and involved with young folks.

As a boomer, what do you like to do to have fun?

I read; mostly non-fiction. Hiking, as described above. Family and friends. Travel. Love the National Parks. The Blanton Museum of Art. College football; I've held the same seats at Texas DKR Memorial Stadium since 1987. Gardening. Alumni social events. Duplicate bridge. Men's Breakfast Club. Cooking. Floating in the pool. Occasional forays into the Austin music scene. Movies. Golf. Lake Travis football.

Please read the "Notice of Assumed Risk" in the About Us section of Boomertime's home page. This must be read and affirmed to be approved. An answer of "Yes" will attest that you have read the "Notice" and agree to your assumption of risk. Thanks.

Bob here. I've lived in Austin for 32 years; 30 of those years in Lakeway. After a successful career in healthcare management, planning and development, I'm now retired. Daughter, son-in-law and grandson live in Atlanta. Now it's time for some fun.
