Frog Pond Ice Skating & Dinner After

(This is rescheduled from Jan 21th. Please update your RSVP if you can't make it.)

Hi,
I've been running this event with this group since 2008. Come join me for skating on the Boston Frog Pond (it's a rink, not an actual pond!) on Tues, Feb 4 at 6:15 pm. We'll meet in front of the Frog Statues. Depending on the weather, I'll be wearing a white jacket and red hat, scarf and mittens. Tuesdays are student night so admission is $2.00 with an ID or $5.00 without one. Bring your own skates or rent them for $9.00.

Afterwards we'll go get something to eat. Usually we eat in Chinatown, but the bill is never itemized and takes so long to sort out. I'm thinking of the Rock Bottom Brewery this time around. Food is cheap and yummy.

Hope to see you there!

Dee

      Hello Karen,

I think they would. It is an open skating rink that rents them out.

I would like to attend. Not sure exactly where the frog statues are?

If you get off at Park Street Station (train) then just go into the Boston Commons. You will see a children's park- find the opening and then look behind you. The statue is directly behind you if you were to open the gate.

Hi Dee, I'd like to invite the Boston Walking Group for about 5 people. For dinner would we meet back at the frogs? What time? Rock Bottom Brewery sounds fun. Can't wait. Thanks for planning this. I love the frog pond.

Hi Suzanne, Happy to have more people join. Social Funners are coming too. Are you walking and then joining us for dinner? Or will you be skating? What time is your group meeting? We usually take a break at the round tables near the concession stand when they clear the ice and I redo introductions for latecomers. We go to dinner when I notice most people have taken off their skates and are on the benches and then I round up the rest.

Hello, I'm new to this group but I noticed another groups is having 47 members go the same night, do we all go out to dinner together? That seems like a lot of people.

how are they able to keep the rink frozen in this weather? any issues with that?

    January 14, 2014

    • Dee

Hi Larry, It's a rink, not a pond and can stay frozen up to 60 degrees. You keep posting comments on these events, but have not signed up.I will only be sending out final details by email and if you are not signed up you will not receive them.

My husband and I should be able to make it to our first meetup! I am a competitive figure skater and coach, and I used to coach at the frog pond, so I am more than willing to help ANY newbies! :)

Thanks for your note Debbie! That's perfect! The is a joint event with 2 other groups and I have about 3 newbies coming so far. 1 or 2 ice hockey guys are coming also and they're good about helping newbies too.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
