Dead Man Down (5:40PM Show)

  • Mar 8, 2013 · 5:15 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This Trailer looked intense and I loved Noomi Rapace in the original Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Hope she is as cool in this role.

Showtime is at 5:40. It is going to be a little tight for me and others to make it, so I am going to change things up a little. I will leave work around 5...I am at Kendall and it is only two stops, so I should be there about 5:10 or so. I will go directly to the theater and try to wait in the hallway outside for a bit. Hopefully, being this early we won't have trouble finding seats. But we should really try to grab seats by 5:20. Then we can take turns doing the snack runs while others hold our seats.

Fandango.com is selling tickets right now. Be warned though, there are sometimes hiccups to the system, especially the mobile app. Not being able to complete a transaction does not mean they are sold out. Wait a bit and try again.

If you miss the group ahead of time, come find us after. We gather in the hallway outside of the theater we just saw the movie in, to discuss the film a bit, allow for restroom breaks and to get a head count of all those who would like to go out after for drinks and munchies.

$$$$Managing the after event is much easier if everyone brings cash, so please plan ahead if you want to go out with the group after.$$$

I was really reluctant to see this film and, in some ways, my misgivings were proven true. The script and resulting movie were quite uneven, and Terrence Howard's performance was very weak. What surprised me most unpleasantly, though, was Noomi Rapace's performance. Granted, the script saddled her character with way too much tragic baggage, but her performance was always either moribund or hysterical(in the sense of uncontrolled emotion, not in the sense of funny). There were other problems-e.g., Colin Farrell's character takes way to long to get around to dealing with the guy Rapace's character wants dead. But, on the plus side, Farrell-and Dominic Cooper, and several other supporting players-gave solid performances throughout, there was a neat plot-twist toward the end, and, perhaps most pleasantly surprising, on the whole, this movie wasn't nearly as much of a downer as I'd feared it would be. Afterwards at the Rockbottom Brewery with "the folks" was way cool, as usual. Thanks all.

Hi everyone. I had to go to work today and I am already in Kendall Square. So if you were wondering about the weather stopping the event.....I will be there!!!! Also basically if the T is running then the theater is open. It should stop snowing this afternoon in any case. Can't wait till spring this storm every week is getting pretty old.

Ok. The 5:40 show it is! I have to leave work early, but should get there around 5:10 or 5:15. I will head directly to the theater it is showing in, my ticket says theater #9. We should head in for seats by 5:20. Then we can hold seats and take turns doing snack runs.

There is the Commons garage and also the theater has a garage. ..neither is exactly cheap though. Usually the best bet is to drive to a T parking lot and hop the train. Sorry I can't be more heloful, but I never drive into Boston.

I vote the 5:40 show, assuming a better time doesn't show up. I work downtown so it'd more convenient for me.

Yipes! I just looked up the movie times...hoping that they add some shows, but as of now they have a 5:40 show....which would mean a close call for some people. I would have to leave work a bit early myself to make that. Of course we could meet closer to the start time than usual.

Or an 8:20 show...which means we wouldn't get out of the movie till after 10:30. Grrr...when are they going to clear out the Oscar movies? They are taking up valuable movie theaters!

Let me know if you have a preference. I will check back tomorrow to finalize the time. Sometimes they add more showtimes on Wednesdays.

Also, they are starting to jump up and down about lots of snow...starting tomorrow and running through Friday afternoon. Hopefully, it is much ado about nothing....will definitely keep people posted about the event should the weather prove difficult.

Hope to see you on Friday night. :)
