Flight (7:10PM Show)

  • Nov 3, 2012 · 6:15 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

I love Denzel and there was no way I wasn't going to put this one on the calendar!

Showtime is at 7:10.  I will be at the movie theater by 6:15 and we will head in for seats by 6:45.

The movie is showing upstairs so look for the group at the tables by the big windows at the top of the escalator.   I will be sporting my oh so stylish meetup pin and we will be the biggest group there.  :)

This is a Denzel film and I have seen lots of adds for it.  I strongly suggest that you buy your tickets ahead of time.

If you miss the group ahead of time, come find us after. We gather in the hallway outside of the theater we just saw the movie in, to discuss the film a bit, allow for restroom breaks and to get a head count of all those who would like to go out after for drinks and munchies.

$$$$Managing the after event is much easier if everyone brings cash, so please plan ahead if you want to go out with the group after.$$$$$

As always, please keep your rsvps up to date.  Thanks.

While the world begs to embrace him as a true American Hero, the everyman struggles with this label as he is forced to hold up to the scrutiny of an investigation that brings into question his behavior the night before the doomed flight.

I really liked pretty much everything about "Flight," except the very last scene. Within context, I found "Whip" Whitaker's finally coming clean at the Congressional Hearing, his speaking at the prison A.A. meeting and the scene showing, through his personal photos, what had happened in Whitaker's life since the hearing all effective and moving. However, the very last scene, in which Whip sits down with his heretofore enraged, alienated teenage son to be interviewed for the son's essay, "The Greatest Person I Never Knew" was REALLY cloying as an end to an otherwise refreshingly un-sentimental film.

What a great movie. Really well done. Not many movies bring out hatred or dispise in me, but this one did. This is a movie I would see more then once for sure.

Intense but very well done film. Densel was compelling as the cocky addict. Loved that he didn't play the affable drunk. Much grittier as the guy systemically dismantling his life. Dinner st the Rockbottom was a lot of fun too!

I think this is based on fictional not factual events. By the way, tickets are on sale on mine. :)

In the back of my mind, I think it's loosely based on a Michael Crichton novel, "Airframe".

Wait, wasn't this in the news (true story)?)

I wonder if it's based on the flight that landed in NY water?

Sully landed right side up in the Hudson. The one in Flight turns upside down, not based on the actual landing.
